Hello bookworms!!

So it has been quite a while since I done one of these posts. I really have been slacking lately I need to get back on track. Standalone Sunday is a weekly meme created by Megan @ bookslayerreads and she also created the image above to go with it. Every Sunday you will pick a standalone book (not part of a series) to feature on your blog that you loved or would recommend to others. Feel free to join in on this meme just be sure to give credit to Megan.

Goodreads Synopsis

Catherine may be one of the most desired girls in Wonderland and a favorite of the unmarried King, but her interests lie elsewhere. A talented baker, she wants to open a shop and create delectable pastries. But for her mother, such a goal is unthinkable for a woman who could be a queen.

At a royal ball where Cath is expected to receive the Kingโ€™s marriage proposal, she meets handsome and mysterious Jest. For the first time, she feels the pull of true attraction. At the risk of offending the King and infuriating her parents, she and Jest enter into a secret courtship.

Cath is determined to choose her own destiny. But in a land thriving with magic, madness, and monsters, fate has other plans.

Even though I didn’t particularly love this book myself I still thought it was a good book to recommend. If you are a fan of the original Alice book you will enjoy this and even if you didn’t enjoy the original story I think you would still enjoy this.

Have you read Heartless before? Did you like it? Or not? Are you participating in this meme? If so leave a link in the comments to your post I would love to check it out.

  1. I totally sucked when we were supposed to read this together. I really did try but the lemon tart chapter just did me in and I had about zero patience that day. I need to go back to it at some point. I love the cover. ๐Ÿ™‚
