Beloved #1 New York Times bestselling author Colleen Hoover returns with an unforgettable love story between a writer and his unexpected muse.
Fallon meets Ben, an aspiring novelist, the day before her scheduled cross-country move. Their untimely attraction leads them to spend Fallon’s last day in L.A. together, and her eventful life becomes the creative inspiration Ben has always sought for his novel. Over time and amidst the various relationships and tribulations of their own separate lives, they continue to meet on the same date every year. Until one day Fallon becomes unsure if Ben has been telling her the truth or fabricating a perfect reality for the sake of the ultimate plot twist.
First off I want to say thank you again to Luna for giving me this book. If she wouldn’t have sent me this book there is no telling how long it would have taken me to get it and read it and then I wouldn’t have known how much I freaking love this book. Thank you so much Luna!!
Ok now comes the hard part. I’m just going to warn you now that this review will probably be all over the place and it’s basically going to be me gushing about it.
November 9 is my first Colleen Hoover book and I can pretty much say with certainty that after only reading one of her books she has become a favorite author of mine but I will save that declaration until at least after I read one more of her books.
This book blew me away guys. I could have read this in one sitting but while I was reading this book I was also reading 3 other books so I had to force myself to put it down but that didn’t last too long because I had to know how the story was going to end.
In one of my older blog posts I am pretty sure I mentioned how I sometimes flip to the last page and read the last paragraph or so to find out how it ends but I only do that when I am really anxious over the book I am reading. I wanted so badly to do this while I was reading this book because Colleen had me on such an emotional roller coaster. Luckily I mentioned this on Twitter and one of my followers (who’s an author herself) talked me out of it and I am so glad she did because it made the ending so much better.
I am literally sitting here getting anxious all over again just trying to put into words how I feel about this book and something Noriko said to me recently is ringing true right now. I don’t feel like my words could ever do this book justice.
While I was reading this I went through so many emotions from feeling sympathy for one character, to being angry, happy, and sad to many others. By the end of the book I was kind of chewing on my thumb because I was so worried about how things were going to play out in the end.
I will leave y’all with a little story. Because Colleen had broken my heart and put it back together again one to many times I put the book down when I only had 72 pages left. I needed a little break to recover. About the time I laid the book down my husband walked in the room and I proceeded to go off on a tangent about what this author was doing to me and the next thing I know I had tears running down my cheeks. I hadn’t cried while reading it but as soon as I started talking about it I cried. And of course my husband being the non reader that he is just rolled his eyes and went back to what he was doing.
If you aren’t a fan of insta-love then you might not enjoy this book but in my opinion you should still give it a shot because the characters are so painfully aware of the insta-love and are constantly comparing what they are going through to different books and it makes it some what comical.
Have you read November 9? What are your thoughts on it? Have you read any other Colleen Hoover books? What book of hers do you think I should read next?
Omg, Misty, I love this review!!!! It tells me what big of an impact November 9 had on you, and I LOVE it when a book does that to me.
Now I have to read November 9 – and oh, your review reminded a BookTuber (Sarah-Jane) once mentioned in her video. She is also a huge Colleen Hoover fan and said exactly the same thing you mentioned in your review- ‘Colleen rips your heart and puts it back and then she does it over and over and over again.”
Great review, Misty!

Thank you so much Noriko!! I didn’t think I was going to be able to make any coherent thoughts on this book but once I sat down and started it, it just all started coming to me and I’m really happy with this review actually. Out of all the reviews on my blog there has only been two that I was proud of and this is one of them.

Oh my goodness you two. Your crazy love reviews this week are putting more books on my shelf! After reading a review like this how can I not add the book. Noriko already made me add the 180 seconds. Great post.

Lol!! Sorry I know what you mean though I am constantly adding books to my TBR because of the book community. While it not necessarily a bad thing it’s not necessarily a good thing either lol!! Thank you and I hope you like November 9 if you end up reading it.

Thank you so much!! It took me a couple of days after finishing it to get to the point where I could write a coherent review. This was my first CoHo book but I definitely want to read more. I have two more of her books on my shelves so I will hopefully get to them soon.

Totally get what you mean about the book being kinda comical with the instalove thing, so it doesn’t feel like instalove. Anyhoo I’m enjoying this so far 😀 Great review!

It’s like they are so aware of the insta love that it makes it ok. I say that but I don’t have any issues with insta love to begin with but I know a lot of people can’t stand it.

hehe yes! I get that- I think it’s fine in certain circumstances.

I have only came across like 1 maybe 2 books that it just didn’t work for me but for the most part I have no issues with it.

I only own two more of her books at the moment and those are It Ends With Us and Hopeless so it will be one of those probably.

I’ve heard good things about It Ends With Us too, I shall get a wriggle on with reading November 9 and see how I find it.
