Monthly Wrap Up

My Most Disappointing Reads of 2017

Hello bookworms!!

Sundays has been the day that I post my weekly wrap up for several months now but with the new year comes a few changes. This is my first change. Instead of posting my weekly wrap ups on Sunday they will be going up on Mondays. Ok with that out of the way lets get into what this post is actually about. I’m going to be showing y’all my most disappointing reads of 2017. For this I am picking books that I really thought I was going to like but ended up not liking it in the end or I was just let down by it. These are books that I read in 2017 but weren’t necessarily released in 2017. Also by no means am I saying that you shouldn’t like these books if you do these just didn’t work for me. Without further ado here are the books that disappointed me in 2017 for one reason or another.

This is one that I had high hopes for and it just turned out to not be what I was expecting. You can see my full review here.

This book had been recommended to me by several different people some of which said this was their favorite series so I went into this book with high expectations only to be let down. However I did go on to read the second book in the series and it was significantly better than this one. See my full review here.

Historical Fiction is hit or miss for me but hearing everyone praise this book really made me want to read it. I really thought that I would end up loving it but sadly this was probably my biggest disappointment of the year. See my full review here.

Just three disappointing reads isn’t to bad. Have you read any of these? Did you end up liking them?

  1. What a pity you didn’t like All the Light We Cannot See! I enjoyed that one very much. I also just got Heartless but honestly I’m going with no expectation at all, so hopefully I won’t be disappointed. Nice list though, it’s always nice to see where opinions differ! 🙂 🙂

  2. I really didn’t like All the Light we Cannot See. I thought the language was so over the top flowery and I just couldn’t get into the story. I also thought the ending felt rushed. I’m joining you in your minority 😊

  3. Heartless was such a sad disappointment for me as well. If I heard that she loved baking one more time…….. and I expected at least a little bit of crazy from her early on but no, it was like a button was pushed and all of a sudden she was transformed. Ugh I wanted to love it!
