May TBR

TBR

Hello bookworms!!

I had so much fun letting my husband pick my TBR for March that I decided to let a friend pick my TBR for this month. I asked Payton if she would be interested in picking my TBR for me and she was just as excited about it as I was. We tend to have the same taste/opinions when it comes to books so I wasn’t really nervous about letting her pick what I read. The only thing I asked her to do was to go to my Goodreads TBR Books I Own shelf and pick 8 books. Shameless self promo, if you aren’t already following me on Goodreads please do so. Anyways those were the only two stipulations for her to choose. So lets see what books she choose for me and the one I picked for the #BookBumClub book club.

Book Club Pick

Mays theme for The BookBum Club is: AROUND THE WORLD Read a book by an author who’s from a different country. I started a book last month that fits this theme and since I wasn’t able to finish it I thought I would read it for this months theme. The book I will be reading is The Book Thief by Markus Zusak who is an Australian author.

The Book Thief

This is my main TBR but I also hope to be able to fit in some audiobooks and I will be participating in a readathon next week where I hope to be able to fit in some other books as well. I have already started The Selection and of course The Book Thief at the time of me writing this. Have you read any of the books on my TBR? Are any of these books on your TBR as well?

    1. I’m a little skeptical about starting this series because of all the hate it gets but I absolutely loved The Infernal Devices trilogy so I am hoping I love this series as well. Payton is actually reading this series now. I think she’s on the 3rd or 4th book and she’s been liking them so I’m expecting to as well because we tend to have the same tastes in books but we shall see.

    1. Yeah when my husband picked my TBR in March he chose a lot of books that I had been putting off for so long and there’s was no telling when I would have ever picked them up. This time around Payton picked books that I’ve really been wanting to read some I’ve had for a while and some I’ve only recently got so it was a good mix.

  1. Oh, The Mortal Instruments! ❤ I love that world. 🙂
Curious to see what you'll think of The Raven Boys. There's a lot of hype surrounding the series and I ended up just liking it, not overly loving it. The Book Thief is on my TBR; also a lot of hype surrounding that one, haha. Hope you love it!

    1. Yeah I’ve been wanting to read The Mortal Instrument series ever since I read The Infernal Devices trilogy a couple years ago but I just recently got the first 3 books. I had a feeling Payton would chose that book and I’m excited to finally be reading it. I hope The Raven Boys doesn’t turn out to be one of those books that I like but was way over hyped. I’m almost halfway through The Book Thief. I’m liking it but so far I’m not understanding all the crazy hype for it.

      1. I think I might reread all the Clare-books next year. It’s tempting enough since it’s been a while since I read TMI and TID.
Ha, same. To me it totally feels overhyped. Just don’t get your hopes up too much and you’ll be okay, I think. 🙂
Maybe the crazy hype-part is because of the second half of the novel? You’ll see!

      2. I absolutely loved TID trilogy and I’m hoping to feel the same about TMI series but everybody seems to not like this series very much. I would love to reread TID trilogy again. I’m going to try to go in with no expectations and hopefully I will end up loving it. Yeah I think I read a review that said the first half was slow going but the last half was what got him. At least I am into it enough to want to continue reading it.

      3. Each his/her/their own opinion! I loved the books back when I read them and I’m not afraid of saying so, haha.
That’s most important! As long as you still feel like reading on, all is good. 🙂
