First Line Fridays #7

Hello bookworms!!

It’s finally the weekend. Do you have anything fun planned for this holiday weekend? I’m just going to be at home hopefully getting some reading done. Today I am back with another First Line Fridays post. Todays first line comes from a book I recently started.

First Lines Fridays

First Line Fridays is a weekly feature for book lovers hosted by Wandering Words. What if instead of judging a book by its cover, its author or its prestige, we judged it by its opening lines?

  • Pick a book off your shelf (it could be your current read or on your TBR) and open to the first page
  • Copy the first few lines, but don’t give anything else about the book away just yet – you need to hook the reader first
  • Finally… reveal the book!

FIRST LINE

This is how I kill someone.

AND THE BOOK IS

The Female of the SpeciesA contemporary YA novel that examines rape culture through alternating perspectives.

Alex Craft knows how to kill someone. And she doesn’t feel bad about it.

Three years ago, when her older sister, Anna, was murdered and the killer walked free, Alex uncaged the language she knows best—the language of violence. While her own crime goes unpunished, Alex knows she can’t be trusted among other people. Not with Jack, the star athlete who wants to really know her but still feels guilty over the role he played the night Anna’s body was discovered. And not with Peekay, the preacher’s kid with a defiant streak who befriends Alex while they volunteer at an animal shelter. Not anyone.

As their senior year unfolds, Alex’s darker nature breaks out, setting these three teens on a collision course that will change their lives forever.

I just started this book a couple days ago so I’m not far enough into it to know how I feel about it yet. Have you read this book? Do you plan to read it? What did you think about it?

  1. Happy Friday!😊

My FLF comes from a book I will be reading soon, My Heart Belongs in Niagra Falls New York by Amanda Barratt.

As the coachman loaded her trunk onto the carriage, nausea churned in Adele’s stomach.

Have a great weekend and happy reading!😀
