Hello bookworms!!
I did this post last year so I thought I would make it a little tradition here on mistysbookspace. The only difference is I haven’t been tagged this time but that’s ok. If you want to check out how I was doing last year around this time you can do so here. I can’t believe we are already halfway through the year. Time seems to go by faster every year. Ok lets jump into what this post is actually about shall we.
Best Book You’ve Read So Far in 2018
I mean is this really a surprise to anyone at this point? No! Ok moving on then.
Best Sequel You’ve Read So Far in 2018
This is actually the only sequel I have read this year but even if I had read any more this would most likely still be the best.
New Release You Haven’t Read Yet but Want To
I actually haven’t even started this trilogy yet but hopefully I will be rectifying that next month.
Most Anticipated Releases for the Second Half of the Year
These are the two books I am looking forward to reading the most.
Biggest Disappointment
These two have probably been my biggest disappointments this year. I grew up watching the movies and the books didn’t live up to that expectation.
Biggest Surprise
I didn’t really have any expectations going into this but I was pleasantly surprised.
Favorite New Author
I’m going to have to go with Becky Albertalli and Kerri Maniscalco for this. I can’t choose between them.
Favorite New Crush
Sorry I keep repeating myself but I’m going to have to go with Thomas Cresswell for this one. I absolutely love him. As well as Simon and Blue I freaking adore them.
Favorite New Characters
Repeating myself again sorry I just can’t help it but I love the way Audrey Rose isn’t afraid to stand up for herself and what she believes in especially for the time period. Also Faye is another character who can take care of herself while still having a vulnerable side and flaws.
Books That Made You Cry
I haven’t had any books to really make me full on cry but I teared up a couple of times reading both of these books.
A Book That Made You Happy
This post has somehow become very Simon eccentric #sorrynotsorry Anyways y’all know I love this book and I was so giddy while I was reading it.
Most Beautiful Books You’ve Bought So Far This Year
I bought a box set of the first four books in this series and while they are all pretty covers this one is by far my favorite.
What Books Do You Need to Read Before the End of the Year?
Ugh!! So many that I can’t even begin to name them.
I HAVE to read the Stalking Jack the Ripper series! I have heard so much about it I really want to love it and hope I do.

I thought “I Know What You Did Last Summer” by Lois Duncan was so much better than the movie, but they are not even close to being the same thing. The reason I thought it was better was it seemed like there was a real reason for everything that happened in it and also there was a reason that the one male wasn’t getting as much as the other characters. I appreciated it as its own thing, but I definitely can see what would make it a disappointment if you are a huge fan of the movie. They are just so different.

Yeah I think that’s why I was so disappointed by both of these books. I watched the movies way before I ever knew they were based off of a book so I grew up loving the movies so thats was like hammered in my mind I guess. I was just expecting them to be like the movies and they were completely different and because I loved the movies so much it took away from my enjoyment of the books.

Simon is such a fun book and I love Hunting Prince Dracula so much!! Obsidio is such an amazing ending to the Illuminae Files trilogy and yes! So excited for Escaping from Houdini. Ahh Thomas Cresswell is my favourite.

Haa you are a Simon fan then… I didn’t mention the book in my post but I adore the book and the movie…
I did want to mention Simon and Blue as my crushes but thought it would be too odd to crush on characters half my age 😜😜
Great list of books you’ve got there… I can’t wait to read theStalking Jack the Ripper series…
