Just like last month I think I have bitten off more than I can chew, saying that though last month went better than I expected so I’m hoping things go as good this month. However on top of all the read-a-thons I am participating in I have also decided to take a trip to Tennessee to spend the week with my mom, sister and her family. This wouldn’t be so bad if all of the read-a-thons didn’t happen to start while I was still in Tennessee but I am going to make the best of it and see what I manage to complete. Now on to what I plan to read this month.
The first read-a-thon I am participating in is the Children’s Books read-a-thon and it was created by James from This Is My Truth Now. It’s a month long read-a-thon where we read a set amount of books that were chosen for that specific week and then we post our reviews of said books on Friday. I don’t have the first weeks set of books on this list because I actually read them in July because like I said I am going out of town the first week of August and I wanted to make sure I had them read so I got a head start on the reading which James was perfectly ok with. For week 2 we will be reading Winnie the Pooh #1 by A.A. Milne, Number the Stars by Lois Lowry, and Don’t Let the Pigeon Drive the Bus by Mo Williams. Week 3 we will be reading Charlotte’s Web by E.B. White, and The Lion, The Witch, and The Wardrobe by C.S. Lewis which I’ve actually already read before but I think I’m going to read it again. Week 4 I am not sure if I am going to be able to participate in because my Library doesn’t have the books but if I can get my hands on them I will add them to the list.
The next read-a-thon I plan on participating in is the Make Me Read It Read-a-thon that is hosted by Ely from Of Wonderland and Val from The Innocent Smiley. If you want to learn more about this read-a-thon and you want to see what order I am reading these in check out my Make Me Read It Read-a-thon TBR post.
The last read-a-thon I have planned to participate in is the Slay Your TBR Read-a-thon. This read-a-thon is part of the Bookish Bash(links to their website) community. It’s a little difficult to explain so I am going to let one of the co hosts explain it to you in their announcement video. It’s a new community that started in July with an Instagram photo challenge and in August they are hosting their first read-a-thon. This read-a-thon has some challenges to go with it which are:
- Post a photo of the oldest, unread book on your shelf
- Post a photo of your TBR
- Take part in our live Chats
- Take part in our sprints
- Read a fantasy book
- Read a short story
For my fantasy book I am planning on listening to the audiobook of Coraline by Neil Gaiman which I will also be buddy reading with Noriko and for the short story I will be reading F*cking Awkward. As for what else I will be reading I just plan to count what I manage to read for the Make Me Read It Read-a-thon.
The BookBum Club
Every month I participate in The BookBum Club that was created by Zuky. This months theme is IT’S THE SOUND OF THE POLICE! It’s the month for crime… read a crime book, whether it’s fiction or non-fiction! This months theme made me realize I don’t read a lot of crime novels and that I don’t have any crime books on my shelves. I found this available on Scribd and I’ve been wanting to read it so hopefully I can get to it this month.
And then of course I want to continue making my way through my ARCs and review copies. I am slowly getting this list down. It would make things easier if I stopped adding more to it.
And there it is. Yet another very ambitious TBR for August. Again if Noriko and Lili do their 24 hour read-a-thon at the end of the month I will be trying to participate in that as well. Have you read any of the books I mentioned? Are you participating in any of the same read-a-thons? Different ones?
