I finished these 2 books this week. The Haunting of Hill House was ok but I was so confused after I finished it. I did end up watching the show as well and I finished it last night. I liked the show more than the book but I am still confused. Hopefully I will be able to get a review up of the book soon. The last book I finished this week was The Poet X. I listened to the audiobook of this and while I did enjoy it I feel like this is one of those books that was way over hyped. I did give it 4 stars and most likely I want be writing a review up for this one.
I am currently in the middle of reading all 3 of these books. Dracula is a buddy read that is going to be taking place over the entire month because we are only reading a chapter a day. Wicked Weaves I am reading as part of a readathon and I am about halfway through it at the moment. Doctor Sleep is part of the Stephen King readalong that I participate in over on Instagram. I finally started it last night but I only read the first 20 pages before bed.
Once I finish Wicked Weaves I will be starting the second book in the series Ghostly Glass. I also want to start on my own reading challenge for the month and pick up a Nicholas Sparks book. Most likely I will either read A Walk to Remember of The Notebook.
Credit as always to The Book Date. Have you read any of the books I mentioned? What have you been reading lately? What are your reading plans for the week?
Oh great books in your TBR Misty… Enjoy reading all of them, also I’m reading The shining. If I’m not mistaken, Doctor Sleep is a sequel, right?

I just finished The Poet X! Maybe I hadn’t heard much of the hype, because I was positively surprised by how emotional a read it was. Also gave it 4 stars. I’m not sure if I will read The Haunting of Hill House, as you said, it seems a bit confusing! What do you think? Was it worth it?

I have been hearing people raving about it for the longest time. It was really good and I agree it’s an emotional read but the way it was being hyped I guess I was just expecting something mind blowing and it didn’t do it for me. I’m glad I read Hill House but if you don’t read it you want really be missing anything.

Makes sense! I think I will skip Hill House… got lots to read already. 🙂 Thanks!

Yeah I have so much I want to read and sometimes you’re best to just skip the ones you’re not sure about. Why waste time on books you’re not really that interested in especially when there are so many great books you could be reading instead.

I just finished up What the Hell Did I Just Read: A Tale of Cosmic Horror by David Wong and have started Destiny Disrupted by Tamin Ansary. A bit of a genre leap from horror/comedy to Islamic world history, but that’s just how I roll sometimes haha!

How are you liking the book you’re reading? I jump between genres all the time.

I really enjoy it so far; he has made it more of a story than a simple textbook recitation of facts or scholarly analysis.

That’s nice. I don’t like reading books that are all facts I get bored.

I totally agree; it definitely helps retain interest.
