It’s Monday What Are You Reading?

What I Recently Finished Reading

I’ve done it!! I have finally gotten out of my reading slump. I finished these 3 books in three days over the weekend. I decided to pick up a book by my favorite author in the hopes that it would help me get back to reading and it worked. I read The Notebook by Nicholas Sparks which of course I enjoyed. I will say this is an instance where I like the movie more than the book because it fills in some gaps. After I finished that one I was still a little weary on if I was going to be able to continue reading so I wanted to pick a short and quick read. I remembered I had a children’s chapter book that was sent to me for review so I read it. I thought this was a cute read. You can read my full review here. At this point I knew I had my reading mojo back so I decided to finally pick Broken Heart Attack by James J Cudney back up because I should have had this finished earlier in the month but the slump prevented that from happening. I am so glad I was finally able to read it because of course I loved it. My full review will be going up tomorrow.

What I'm Currently Reading

I’m going to be honest here and tell y’all that I haven’t picked up When the Serpent Bites or The Inevitable Collision of Birdie & Bash in like 5 months. When I started them I just wasn’t into them so I decided to put them on hold at the time and I still haven’t felt like reading them. As for Dracula and Doctor Sleep I started both of those this month but like I mentioned the slump prevented me from reading much of anything. Now that I am back to reading hopefully I will get back into them. Although I am still considering DNFing Dracula because what I did manage to read I didn’t like but I’m not sure if that was because of my slump or not so I am going to give it a few more chapters to hook me. Last up I started Aggravated Momentum last night and I got 11% into it. That’s only like 2 chapters and I just know I am going to be flying through it. This was provided to me by R&R Book Tours and I am supposed to have it read and reviewed by the end of the month. I have already let them know what was going on and they were ok with it but I am still hoping to get it finished before the end of the month.

What I Plan To Read Next

Since I got back into reading I am trying to get through the books that were sent to me by the authors for review. Besides When the Serpent Bites and Aggravated Momentum which are both on my currently reading shelf I have these 2 left. Hopefully I will be able to get caught up on all of the review copies I have before the end of the year.

Credit as always to The Book Date. Have you read any of the books I mentioned? What have you been reading lately? What are your reading plans for the week? Do you have a list of review copies you need to get read as well?

  1. Dracula is definitely a slow burner – the story is pretty awesome, but it can be really difficult to get into, as everything happens so damn slowly! Having said that, it is one of my favourite classics, so fingers crossed it was just the slump holding you back! Happy reading! 🙂

  2. Awesome you beat that slump!! Always such a good feeling when that finally happens, hah.

I do agree with The Notebook-movie being better than the book. Although I might be biased since I can’t seem to NOT love anything Ryan Gosling plays in. [I’m definitely biased..]

I feel you on Dracula. I started it a while ago and ended up putting it back on my TBR. I do want to read it someday but.. I simply wasn’t feeling it at the time. I’d rather go back to it when I want to than struggle through the entire thing. And since you just got out of that slump, picking up a book you’re not feeling is the worst thing you can do! So don’t! 🙂

    1. Yeah I am so glad I finally beat it. It’s nice to be back reading again.

I like Ryan Gosling as well maybe not as much as you though😉 the book to me just rushes through some things that the movie goes into more detail about. I still love the book and I geared up reading it I just like that we got more in the movie.

Yeah I think I am just going to hold off on picking it up. I’ve been trying to convince myself to pick it back up since I’ve been reading and it’s not working. I am more in the mood for some holiday reads. I will read it one day hopefully.
