I was a little worried I wasn’t going to get to Aggravated Momentum by Didi Oviatt before the end of November because of my slump but luckily I came out of it just in time. I am so glad I finally read this because I loved it. You can read my review here. The author sent me Cinders of Castlerea in January and I just now got around to reading it. I am so torn on this book. My review will be going up on my blog Friday but you can see it on Goodreads now. Around the time I was getting out of my reading slump I started getting in the mood to read Christmassy books so I decided I was going to dedicate a lot of my December TBR to Christmas books. I started the month off with The Polar Express which honestly was just an ok read to me. There was nothing really special about it and it didn’t wow me. I thought it was a cute story and I am glad that I can say I have read it. I also finished Nutcracker by E.T.A Hoffman. When I first started it I was a little skeptical but by the time I finished it I was loving it. This will definitely be a book I try to reread every year.
The past few months I have been participating in the Stephen King readalongs that Janel hosts on Instagram. This months book is Joyland. The discussion for this isn’t until the 16th so I am planning on reading this pretty slow. I’m currently on page 25 of 283. Next I started listening to Bird Box which wasn’t even on my TBR for this month but when I seen the movie was coming out on Netflix this month I had to hurry up and read it. I have been wanting to read this for a while now so I’m not mad about it. I’ve listened to about an hour of the audiobook and I have 8 hours to go.
I honesty don’t know what I will be in the mood to read next but it will most likely be one of these because it’s all of the books I have left on my TBR that aren’t going to be part of a readathon later in the month.
Credit as always to The Book Date. Have you read any of the books I mentioned? What did you think of them if you have? What have you been reading lately? What are your reading plans for the week?
The Nutcracker has been newly added to my TBR. What a coincidence you’ve just finished it and I am so glad you ended up loving it!

Just Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone at the moment – the audiobook read by Stephen Fry in fact. Loving it so far!

I’ve reread the first book in this series several times. I’ve listened to the audiobook before and I enjoyed it.

Wow, Bird Box on audio, you’re brave!! I can’t wait to hear your thoughts on it, I read the book and loved it! And I hope you enjoy Joyland, obviously ❤️

I’ve listened to the first 4 chapters now I think and while I’m a little confused as to what’s going on I am enjoying it. Is it going to break my heart or something?? So far so good with Joyland but I’ve only read 25 pages.

Nah, it won’t break your heart, the story is just so good, and gets creepy in some places, so I’m thinking it may be really unsettling/scary to listen to!
