Everyone’s favorite redhead, the spunky Anne Shirley, begins her adventures at Green Gables, a farm outside Avonlea, Prince Edward Island. When the freckled girl realizes that the elderly Cuthberts wanted to adopt a boy instead, she begins to try to win them and, consequently, the reader, over.

My Thoughts

Why did I go so long without reading this book? I absolutely loved this book and I finally have a classic that I can call a favorite.

I listened to the audiobook of this and I have to say the narrator did an amazing job especially portraying Anne. I absolutely adored Anne. She is so imaginative and despite all that she has gone through she is such a happy child and full of life.

I don’t really know what to say besides that I truly loved this book. It is heartbreaking at times while also being hopeful and uplifting and I definitely think everyone should read this book.

      1. Yeah that was a good plan, since even I haven’t read the entire series. But the first two seasons are just based on the first book, and there are obviously some changes and additions to it that are not there in the book. I wasn’t sure what to think of the additions- some I liked and some I didn’t 😊 but the little girl who plays Anne and the Marilla Cuthbert and their best friends- were my favourite characters in the show😊

  1. Anne of Green Gables is one of my favorite books. Who was the narrator on your audiobook? I’ve been trying to find a good audiobook version, and I’ve tried a few but didn’t like them.
