Synopsis

Love isn’t always pretty. Sometimes you have to break the thing you love in order to put the pieces back together again.

“Life is all about choices. Do I want pizza or a hamburger for dinner? Should I wear a red skirt or blue slacks to work? Do I take a million dollar check and divorce the love of my life to keep my baby brother out of jail? In case you’re wondering, I took the check. Now my ex is back in my life. He’s still angry and…he’s my new boss.”

Pretty Broken Girl is the passionate retelling of a marriage gone wrong.

From the boardroom to the bedroom, Dakota Atwell and Samuel Seaforth are locked in a battle of wits and desire. One of them will break. One of them will pay. Both of them want to win. Neither of them expects to fall in love…again.

This is Book 1 of a five book series. It contains adult language, adult situations, and hot steamy sex with a HFN ending. Although it can be read as a standalone, it will be much more enjoyable when read with the other books in the series.

My Thoughts

I don’t even know how long this book has been on my kindle. I do remember that I got it for free on Amazon because most of my kindle books I get for free. Why I waited so long to read this is beyond me.

It’s told in alternating chapters from past and present and from samuel and Dakotas POV. You mostly get Dakotas POV and it’s mostly present. Those past chapters kind of give you an insight to how Sam and Dakota know each other and what happened between them. Honestly I could have done without the past chapters because we learned more from the present chapters anyways.

This is a second chance romance which I loved. I will say Sam is a complete jerk. I understand Dakota screwed him over and broke his heart but some of the things he did and said really pissed me off. Also it was very repetitive in the sense that Dakota constantly kept saying Sam has changed, this isn’t the man I fell in love with, or that’s the old Sam I remember etc. It really started to get on my nerves. I mean I got it the first time you said it geez.

This is actually a pretty quick read it just took me a little longer to get through it because I was reading another book at the same time.

I was hooked from the very beginning all the way to the end. I will say this is one of those instances where if the characters would just talk and listen to each other they could have saved themselves a lot of pain. This book is full of sexual tension and you are left with a lot that is unresolved but I am looking forward to continuing with this series.
