My Thoughts
Thank you so much to the author for providing me with a copy of this book via R&R Book Tours in exchange for my honest review.
This is a very heavy read. It recounts the main characters horrific childhood in Greece before she was adopted and then we also get snippets of what she has to endure after she was adopted and let me tell you this book was difficult to read. It’s so heartbreaking. I just wanted to reach into the book and hug Elektra and show her the love she so desperately wanted. This is a character driven book with no plot which isn’t something I like but there are a couple of books like this that have hooked me despite not having a plot to propel the story and this is definitely one of those books.
Just from the first line I had a feeling I was going to end up enjoying this book and even though the subject matter is hard I did enjoy the overall story. You also get a feel for the book in the first page. I knew it was going to be a heartbreaking read but nothing could prepare me for just how heartbreaking it was going to be.
I knew going into this book that Elektra was going to be telling her story in the form of letters that she wrote to Jane Eyre but I wasn’t expecting to actually be spoiled for the book. Just know that if you haven’t read Jane Eyre there are potential spoilers. I haven’t read Jane Eyre so I don’t know how major the spoilers are.
The only complaint that I have is that I was left with so many questions upon finishing the book.
Overall I definitely recommend this book to more mature audiences just don’t go into it expecting something happy and uplifting because you won’t get that here.

It’s such an eerily beautiful cover. Great review ❤

This sounds really good. Jane Eyre is one of my favourite books! Sorry to hear that it got spoiled for you. 😦
I once did that to a friend (spoiled JE), thinking she had actually read the book… which she hadn’t! I think that those of us who love the book figure that everybody’s read it.

It’s ok by the time I actually get around to reading Jane Eyre I wont’t remember what was spoiled so it will be good.
Yeah it’s such a popular book. I’ve actually just started venturing into classics last year and it’s a slow process for me.
