Monthly Wrap Up

A Look Back At July 2019

Wrap Up

Hello bookworms!!

I had planned to have this post up early this morning but about the time I started working on it my husband told me we were going fishing so sorry this is going up way late. July was one hell of a month for so many reasons. I have a lot to share with y’all today but we will start with the books and I will get to the life updates later. I was a reading machine this month. I am pretty sure I’ve never read this many books in one month before. In January I read 17 books but in July I managed to read 19 books. Yes you read that right I read 19 books. Who even am I? I read a total of 4,800 pages which again who even am I? Ok so here is everything I was able to read in July.

Life Happenings

A lot happened this month. Most was good but some things were a little stressful. First up my husband had his 2nd surgery to remove the rest of his thyroid because it turned out that the piece they removed first had a few cancer cells in it so they wanted to remove the rest to be safe. After testing the remaining piece as well as a lymph node they are pretty sure they got it all out but to be safe they want him to do a radiation treatment but we aren’t sure when that will be. He goes to see his endocrinologist on the 14th and then we will go from there I guess so more on that later.

Next up I hit 1,000 followers on both my blog and Twitter in July which I am still shocked by. One of my goals for the year was to reach 1,000 followers on my blog and I did that halfway through the year. I wanted to do a giveaway when I reached this milestone but with everything going on that’s unfortunately not in our budget right now but eventually I will do another giveaway.

One day my husband and I were driving around running some errands and he happened to notice there was a nail in my tire. We had been putting off getting tires for a long time because they are freaking expensive but once we noticed that we knew we had to come up with the money. Luckily a lady I’ve known since I was a teenager reached out to me and told me to come to a place that she works and said they would work with us on payments so while yes it’s expensive we didn’t have to pay for it all at once and she paid a little on our bill as well. A few days after the tire issue I was going to go to the library to return a book but my car wouldn’t start. Once my husband got home he got it to crank but it turns out the battery was dying so we had to go and buy a battery. While not as expensive as four new tires it was still expensive for someone on a budget. I’m not sure if I’ve ever mentioned this before on my blog but I have hand controls on my car so that I am able to drive. It is recommended to have them inspected ever so often just to make sure everything is still working and nothing is coming loose etc. I was overdue for an inspection so we had that done as well. So yeah lots of money spent on my car this month.

July was also my husbands birthday month as well as our anniversary. We started dating July 1 2006 and got married July 9 2011 so we have been together for 13 years and married for 8 years. Unfortunately we weren’t able to do anything to celebrate these milestones so we just sat at home enjoying each others company.

Challenge Stats

  • Goodreads – 77/100
  • Pages Read – 26,078/36,000
  • Alphabet Soup – 16/26
  • Library Love – 20/12
  • Audiobook – 22/20

And that’s a wrap on another month. I can’t believe we are already over halfway through the year. This month was a very eventful month all around and I am so happy with my reading progress for this month. Have you read any of the books I mentioned? How was July for you?

  1. Wow, what a busy month. I am so glad to hear about the good news regarding your husband. Hopefully the radiation will give you an even more positive outlook. So sorry to hear about all the problems with your car, but glad you have it up and running again. Congratulations on the 1000 followers. That is my goal this year as well and I am just over 700, so have a ways to go yet. Have a great August Misty.

  3. Happy belated anniversary and congrats on 1000 followers! I hope your husband’s radiation goes well (My MIL is doing some cancer treatment like that right now, too. Not chemo, so I think it might be radiation.) The car issues are a huge bummer. I know we’ll need tires on my car next year and I’m not looking forward to it. We got them on my husband’s car last year, but he drives that more with work. Great job on your reading, too!
