August And September Wrap Up

Wrap Up

Hello bookworms!!

The past couple months haven’t gone the way I planned. I ended up in a reading slump in August and binged a show on Netflix which then made me realize I wasn’t enjoying blogging as much so I decided to take a step back. I didn’t go away completely though because apparently I couldn’t stay away. I kept finding myself wanting to share things with y’all so I am pretty much back now. I’m not going to be posting as much as I was before at least not right now. I’m just going to post when I have something I want to share. I’m not going to put any pressure on myself to do certain posts etc. Anyways I have some catching up to do so lets look at what I read in August and September.

Books Read In August

  1. Smartphone Utopia by J. Arthur Squiers ⭐️⭐️⭐️
  2. Beauty’s Quest by C.S. Johnson ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
  3. Beauty’s Kiss by C.S. Johnson ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
  4. Beauty’s Gift by C.S. Johnson ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
  5. Haunted House Ghost by James J. Cudney ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
  6. Reaper by Jonathan Pongratz ⭐️⭐️⭐️.5

Even though I was in a major slump in August I still managed to read 6 books which honestly most of them I read toward the beginning of the month before my slump hit. Out of the 6 books I read Jay’s book Haunted House Ghost was hands down my favorite of the month. I love everything he writes and I cannot wait to read the next one. If you are interested in this book it was published today so definitely get you a copy and read it.

Books Read In September

  1. Why She Lied by Julie Coons ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
  2. Sketch by Didi Oviatt ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
  3. Silo Boys by Amy-Brooke Odell ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️.5
  4. The Green Mile by Stephen King ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
  5. The Lonely Spinsters Club: Willow by Daphne Hargrow ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️.5
  6. Six Goodbyes We Never Said by Candace Ganger ⭐️⭐️⭐️
  7. In The Tall Grass by Stephen King and Joe Hill ⭐️⭐️⭐️.5
  8. Jake’s Redemption by Jamie Schulz

For September I was still in my reading slump/funk so I decided to try not setting a TBR for the month and just reading whatever I wanted to for the most part and it ended up going better than I thought it would. I read 8 books in September. Technically I haven’t finished Jake’s Redemption yet but I had every intention of finishing it yesterday but I had a migraine pretty much all day so I didn’t read anything. I’ve read most of it already. I only have about 60 pages left so I am counting it toward September. My favorite of the month was The Green Mile which I am pretty sure is the first time I’ve given a King book 5 stars.

I watched a lot in August which is actually why I ended up in a reading slump. I started watching Blue Bloods on Netflix and I became obsessed. I watched all 9 seasons, 199 episodes, in 20 days. Season 10 premiered on the 27th so every Friday at 10 I know what I am going to be doing. I also watched Killers, Otherhood, Charmed Season 1 episodes 1-3 and Falling In Love all of which were just ok. I actually started watching the Charmed remake before Blue Bloods but I wasn’t liking it so I tried Blue Bloods and we know how that ended.

In September I Watched NCIS season 16 episodes 1-24, Grey’s Anatomy season 15 episodes 1-25, The Green Mile, and Matilda. NCIS is an all time favorite show and I still enjoy Grey’s Anatomy I’m just not as obsessed with it like I was when I first started watching it. I liked the Green Mile. I think I would have been more into this one had I have watched it before reading the book. I know blasphemy. I haven’t watched Matilda since I was a kid. My husband bought me the DVD because I have been wanting to watch it again for the longest time and wow those adults were mean.

Challenge Stats

  • Goodreads – 89/100
  • Pages Read – 29,347/36,000
  • Alphabet Soup – 16/26
  • Library Love – complete
  • Audiobook – complete

And that’s a wrap!! I can’t believe we only have 3 months left in the year. How is your reading and challenges going?

  1. Looks like you had a good August and September even with being in a slump, Misty! I’m glad you’re still feeling up to posting. I know what it feels like to need a break though.

Hoping to eventually watch Blue Bloods. I hear about it, but just haven’t tried it yet.

    😉💜 Have a wonderful October!

    1. Yeah I’m surprised I still managed to read as much as I did especially with the slump. Thank you!!

It was so good. A huge part of my obsession with it was Donnie Wahlberg!

I hope you have an awesome October!!💕

  2. There’s so much going on here but I think I gasped when I saw that you watched Blue Blood’s 199 episodes in 20 days! That’s amazing! Wow!
I watched Green Mile and haven’t read the book, I really liked the movie but I should probably try to read the book as well. I love NCIS too but I dropped Grey’s Anatomy, wasn’t into it anymore. I really love Criminal Minds and Law & Order SVU.
You still read 6 books in a reading slump, that’s pretty good, I had a very dark month this year and I’ve read 0 during that month, fortunately things got better. 🙂
    Great post ,Misty!

    1. Yeah I became super obsessed with that show right off the bat.
I really enjoyed the book it definitely worth watching. I will watch Grey’s when I want to watch something but can’t find anything else I want to watch. I don’t fully keep up with it like I do other shows. I like Criminal Minds as well. I’m just waiting for more episodes to be added to Netflix. I’ve watched Law & Order SVU when it first started playing but I didn’t stay up to date with it.
I’m sorry you had a dark month I’m glad things got better for you!! Thank you and I hope you have a great October.

      1. Yeaaaah, I loved Bones! I love David Boreanaz since Buffy, the Vampire Slayer, I’ve been keeping up with his career so I also watch Seal Team. I usually like police shows too, even if it’s a comedy show like Brooklyn Nine-Nine. 🙂

      2. Seal Team is good, I really like it! It’s about a team of elite Navy Seals, not just about their missions but also their lives and their families. I absolutely love Brooklyn Nine-Nine but it kind of depends of what type of humor you like. I’m obsessed with Andy Samberg so that helps, I guess you’ll have to watch it and see if it’s your type of show. 😉
