December TBR

Hello bookworms!!

It’s the last TBR of the year and I have set myself a very ambitious TBR. It’s ambitious because several of the books I am hoping to read this month are huge. Fingers crossed I can read everything I want to read. Here are all the books I am hoping to read.

In November I started my reread of the Harry Potter series. I managed to get through the first 3 so I still have the last 4 to read. These last books are pretty hefty. I started Goblet of Fire yesterday and that book in over 700 pages. My goal is to finish all of these in December but if I don’t I will just continue reading them in January.

Wow I can’t believe I am going to attempt to read 3 Stephen King books in 1 month. I have mentioned several times on my blog that I participate in a Stephen King readalong that Janel hosts over on Instagram every month and the pick for December was Elevation since it is a short book. Janel has been hosting this readalong for about 2 years now but I only joined toward the end of the year last year so there are 10 books that they’ve read that I haven’t. A few of them I actually meant to read with them but I ended up in a slump or something while they were reading. Anyways there are others in the group who haven’t read some of the books and this month I have decided to join 2 different buddy reads so I can mark some of the books off the list. I will be buddy reading Doctor Sleep with Nina and Under the Dome with Lacey and Crystal. I was typing this up thinking that the copy of Doctor Sleep I have wasn’t too big but then I looked to see how many pages it has and it’s almost 800 pages and I’m pretty sure Under the Dome is over 1,000 pages. What have I gotten myself into?

On top of all of that with it being December I would also like to read some of the Christmas books I have. The Christmas Carol will be a reread if I manage to get to it. These books range from 29 pages to 420 pages which actually the North Pole Anthology is 3 books in one which is why it’s 420 pages but individually they are probably 100 and something pages.

When this post goes up I have already finished 2 of the Christmas books and I’ve started The Goblet of Fire and Doctor Sleep. Fingers crossed I can get through all of the Harry Potter books and the Stephen King books. What are you planning to read this month? Are we reading any of the same books?

  1. I’m re-reading the Harry Potter books too this year and wanted to finish the last two in the series but it doesn’t look too plausible. So I might be able to just finish the half blood prince.
Also, I just finished reading my first Stephen King book – The Institute. Have you read it? I really enjoyed the book and it was a fast read even though it was so long. I want to read IT next from his collection..

    1. Oh fun! I know so many people reread them this time of year and I’ve been saying for years that I was going to reread them but I am just now doing it and I’m loving it. I think I might be able to get through 2 maybe 3 of them but we will see.
Yes I’ve read The Institute and I really enjoyed it. As for IT that’s one of his books that I hated. But so many people love it.

      1. Oh interesting to hear your thoughts about IT. I haven’t read any reviews but wanted to read the book just because I like to read the books before the movies. However I’ve already watched the first movie so not sure.. still contemplating between reading IT or reading The Shining and Doctor Sleep. Apparently both have movie adaptations and I’ve watched The Shining and it had scared me shit.. but then doctor sleep has released too and it’s a sequel to The Shining, so debating..

      2. I’ve read The Shining and thought it was ok but I hated the movie. I’m currently reading Doctor Sleep and enjoying it so much more. Maybe the reason I didn’t care for IT and The Shining so much is because those were ones I read first and I wasn’t used to his writing or something idk. I know that I have an unpopular opinion on some of his books.

    1. Thank you!! So far I haven’t DNFed any of his books although there were some that I wish I would have given up on. Hopefully I will be able to get through all of them this month.

Thank you and good luck to you as well.

  3. Wow!! You have a super ambitious list! I hope you get through all the ones you’re really hoping to finish. I know I couldn’t pull off 4 Harry Potter books even if that’s all I had to read all month. LOL! Good luck!

    1. I know I think I’ve set myself up for failure this month but oh well. If it was all I was reading I think I could do it but I have several big books on my TBR including the Harry Potter books so that makes it a little bit harder. Thank you I hope you have a great reading month.

  4. Wow!! I am seriously impressed. Hope you read as many as possible and you love them all.
After finishing Beautiful Stranger, I’m going to move on to All Wrapped Up for the Holidays, Christmas in the City, and Christmas at Tiffany’s.

    1. Thank you!! I think so far I’m doing really good I just need to stay this productive reading wise all month and just maybe I can read all the ones I want to get to. I’ve already completed 3 of my Christmas books.

  5. Good luck Misty. That is a very ambitious list. I have several Christmas stories on my December TBR as well, so are the same. I know I will probably not finish mine, but it will be enjoyable trying.
