Hello bookworms!!
I have been putting off updating y’all on all of my challenges because I joined so many in 2019 and I failed a lot of them but I can’t put it off any longer. I’m going to be talking about all of the challenges I joined in 2019 in this post so I’m not going to be going to much in depth about each one. Lets get straight to it shall we.
Levels
Bonsai – Read 12,000 pages
Shrub – Read 24,000 pages
Dwarf Peach – Read 36,000 pages
Apple Tree – Read 48,000 pages
Oak – Read 60,000 pages
Douglas Fir – Read 72,000 pages
Sequoia – Read 84,000 pages
Redwood – Read 84,001+ pages
This was my 3rd year participating in this challenge. The first 2 years I set my goal for 24,000 pages read and I managed to reach that goal in 2018. In 2019 I decided to try for 36,000 pages read and I have managed to read 37,829 pages this year. Yay my first success!!
I participated in this challenge in 2017 and failed miserably. I skipped it in 2018 but decided to try again in 2019. I set a tentative TBR of 25 books because that was my goal for this year. I read 6 off of that list but I also read so much more. I actually surpassed my goal of 25 but I’m not sure exactly how many I read. I stopped keeping track after about 40 books and I am to lazy to go through all of the books I read this year to get a final count. Just know this was another success!
Levels:
Dewey Decimal: Read 12 books
Thrifty Reader: Read 24 books
Overdrive Junkie: Read 36 books
Library Addict: Read 48 books
Library Card on Fire: Read 60+ books
This year was the first time I participated in this challenge. I already go to the library pretty much every month so I figured this would be an easy challenge that I can complete and I did. I set my goal at 12 books but I knew I would read way more than 12 books from the library. Just like above I stopped keeping track of all of the books I got from the library after I reached 20 and I’m too lazy to go through all of the books. I’m starting to think that maybe I didn’t do as bad on my challenges as I thought because this is my third success!
Achievement Levels
Newbie (I’ll give it a try) 1-5
Weekend Warrior (I’m getting the hang of this) 5-10
Stenographer (can listen while multitasking) 10-15
Socially Awkward (Don’t talk to me) 15-20
Binge Listener (Why read when someone can do it for you) 20-30
My Precious (I had my earbuds surgically implanted) 30+
Marathoner (Look Ma No Hands) 50+
This was another new to me challenge and another one that I stopped keeping track of after I reached my goal. So I reached my goal of listening to 15-20 audiobooks but I listened to more than that I just stopped keeping track after 20 because I ran out of room in my bullet journal spread.

Here’s the first challenge I failed. I did the titles editi challenge last year and failed so I thought I would try the author edition this year but I still failed. I was only missing 6 letters though so that’s not too bad.
I’ve been setting Goodreads Reading Challenges for about 4 years now but it wasn’t until last year that I decided to try for 100 books in a year and I managed to reach and actually surpass that goal by reading 119 books. In 2019 I wanted to go for 100 books again and I have once again reached and surpassed that goal by reading 120 book. Yay another success.
Yeah this is my biggest disappointment I think. I was so excited for this challenge and I ended up failing miserably. I wanted to do the whole board which is 39 squares and I only managed to mark off 10. Spoiler Alert: I’m going to be attempting this again in 2020.
I wanted to do the first 40 prompts and honestly I didn’t even keep up with this all year. I’m sure I probably accidently read books that fit some of the prompts but I know I didn’t complete all of them so this is another fail.
There were a couple other things I was participating in like Diverse Divers book club and #CatchUpOnClassics that I’m saying I failed at but it wasn’t completely my fault. These 2 things were created by other people and I was joining them and then they ended up putting them on hold or just stopping completely. I could have continued on with the #CatchUpOnClassics because I already had a list of the books so that’s all on me.
Ok so I successfully completed 5 of the challenges and failed at 5 so it’s not as bad as I thought it was going to be. How did you do with your 2019 challenges?
Congrats on your goodreads challenge. That’s loads of books you have read .

Thank you!! Yeah I never thought I would reach 100 books read in a year and now I have surpassed that 2 years in a row.

Yeah I can’t believe I have read 100+ books 2 years in a row now. I never thought I would be able to read 100 books in a year. Thank you and good luck to you as well. I have cut back significantly on what I am planning to do in 2020.

Thank you. It was half and half which isn’t as bad as I was thinking it was going to be. I’m only really disappointed that I failed at Romanceopoly. The other ones I’m fine with not completing.

It’s tough at times. I struggled with my monthly challenge for December.

Yeah I set so many that I think I just overwhelmed and couldn’t keep up with everything so for 2020 I am cutting back.

I hope that helps. It’s always nice to hit goals. 🙂

I only set a goodreads challenge this year, but I’m going to take part in Beating the Backlist for 2020. I get sucked into so many new books that my TBR is suffering for it 😂

Yeah this year I said I was going to cut back on my challenges and I’m not so sure I’ve done that 🤦🏻♀️ I want to focus on my owned TBR in 2020 because it is getting out of control.

I’d say 5 and 5 is a WIN!! I love that I’m your ‘O’ author!! You had such an awesome year! I need to do better about challenges! This has been a slack year for me lol 🤦♀️

Yeah I’m not to torn up about it. The only one that I’m a little disappointed about is Romanceopoly but luckily I will be attempting it again in 2020 so I can redeem myself. I’ve been deciding my 2020 goals and I think I have once again gone overboard. Hey that’s ok sometimes you just need a laid back year. Don’t stress over it.

Romanceopoly sounds fun! I’ve been reading much more romance than usual 🤔
Good luck in 2020, I’m glad you’re going to dive into it again!!

It’s a creative way to read more romance and sub genres in romance that I would normally not pick up. Thank you and good luck to you as well.
