This Week In Books

My Week In Books12/30 – 1/5

Hello bookworms!!
I am taking a break from the challenge posts just for today so I can share how my week in books has been for the first week of 2020.

~ Recently Finished ~

The Gunslinger
At the end of 2018 I joined a Stephen King Readalong group on Instagram that is hosted by Janel @ Keeper of Pages. I’ve been participating ever since and I want to continue this in 2020. The first book we have started the year off with is The Gunslinger which is the first book in The Dark Tower series. To keep us from pretty much only reading this series all year Janel has set it up to where we will be reading more than one in a month so long as we can all keep up with that schedule. Because this is a King readalong and Janel is the host of it we now have a new hashtag. #KeeperofKing which Crystal @ crystals_library came up with and I think it is so fitting. Not a whole lot happened in this book but I was still hooked. Full review to come soon.

~ Currently Reading ~

The book I am currently reading I am beta reading for the author and as of right now it doesn’t have a cover yet. I am reading Frozen Stiff Drink by James J. Cudney and I am hoping to have it finished in a day or two.

~ Reading Next ~

I will of course be reading book 2 in The Dark Tower series and I want to make a start on my Romanceopoly challenge for the year. The first book I will be reading for that is A Madness of Sunshine. I haven’t shared my Romanceopoly Challenge post yet but it will be going up really soon. Hopefully I will be able to fit in some other books as well.

What have you recently finished reading? What are you currently reading? What are you planning to read next? Have you read any of the books I’ve mentioned? What did you think of them if you have?

    1. His books tend to be hit or miss for me. At this point I think I’ve read about 15 of his books. This one is one of the ones that was just an ok read. I was into it enough to want to continue reading and find out what happens.

      1. Have you read the Colorado Kid. I loved the Tv show haven, not knowing it was based on a stephen king novel. Then my boyfriend asked me to get his a Stephen king novel for christmas and I stumbled upon it.

      2. What did you think of it? The tv show is called Haven, and it’s one of my absolute faves. It’s set years after The Colorado Kid so it’s more loosely based on it I guess.

      3. Honestly it’s been so long since I read it and I didn’t write a review for it that I don’t really remember. That’s not to say it isn’t memorable I just have really bad memory and if I don’t write things down I forget. I gave it 4 stars and I remember still being left with questions but I enjoyed how it was told.

    1. Yeah I’ve read so many reviews from others saying that the first book wasn’t the greatest. They all said just to fight through the first one and then the second one is so much better. I didn’t hate The Gunslinger but it wasn’t a new favorite either. I am looking forward to continuing the series and hope things pick up in book 2.
