Synopsis

In this New York Times bestseller, a single mother sets out to find the North Carolina man who sent a message meant for someone else . . . and the journey may change her life forever. Divorced and disillusioned about relationships, Theresa Osborne is jogging when she finds a bottle on the beach. Inside is a letter of love and longing to “Catherine,” signed simply “Garrett.” Challenged by the mystery and pulled by emotions she doesn’t fully understand, Theresa begins a search for this man that will change her life. What happens to her is unexpected, perhaps miraculous-an encounter that embraces all our hopes for finding someone special, for having a love that is timeless and everlasting…. Nicholas Sparks exquisitely chronicles the human heart. In his first bestselling novel, The Notebook, he created a testament to romantic love that touched readers around the world. Now in this New York Times bestseller, he renews our faith in destiny, in the ability of lovers to find each other no matter where, no matter when…

My Thoughts

We all know by now that Nicholas Sparks is my favorite author. This year I am working on reading the 8 books of his that I have yet to read and Message in a Bottle was one of those books. I did read some of his books a long time ago but I couldn’t remember which ones. When I started this one I thought it had sounded familiar and I felt that way up until the end. Needless to say I thought wrong because I would have remembered that ending.

This review might be a little spoilery so if you haven’t read the book you might want to skip my review.

This book reads at a steady pace and like all of his books portrays life and love realistically in my opinion. Life and love is unpredictable and you never know what will happen or when it will happen.

The 2 main characters are both flawed and handle certain situations not so great but that’s what makes his books so relatable. No one is perfect and no one handles every situation perfectly.

I stayed up past my bedtime last night (I am writing this on January 25th) to finish this book. By the time I finished it I was in tears. That ending had my heart racing and gave me the chills and did I mention I was crying. I’m a happily ever after kind of girl so when I closed this book I looked at my husband and said I don’t like it. Which I did love the book I just wish it would have ended differently. Not that the ending was bad or anything but yeah I am sure you get my point.
