Mid Year Book Freak Out Tag

Mid Year Book Freak Out Tag

Hello bookworms!!

I’ve been doing this tag every year since I started my blog except for 2016 because I didn’t start my blog until the middle of the year. Sometimes I am tagged to do it but most times I am not which is fine because I like doing this tag every year to see how things are going. If you would like to see my answers from the previous years you can do so Here, Here and Here.

I am exactly halfway through my Goodreads reading challenge and 1 book ahead of schedule so that’s good. There for a while I didn’t think I was going to be on track.

1. BEST BOOK YOU’VE READ SO FAR IN 2020?

Red, White & Royal Blue

I have read several really good books this year that it’s hard to pick just one but luckily I will be talking about another one in the next question. Anyways I picked this one because I just adored the romance and I felt giddy reading it like I did when I read Simon vs. The Homo Sapiens Agenda. It wasn’t quite a 5 star read but none the less I really loved it and I’m already wanting to reread it.

2. BEST SEQUEL OF 2020 SO FAR?

Frozen-Stiff-Drink-Main-File

Hands down my favorite sequel to a book is Frozen Stiff Drink by James J. Cudney. This is actually the 6th book in the Braxton Campus Mysteries series and while I love all of the books in this series this is definitely my favorite.

3. NEW RELEASE YOU HAVEN’T READ YET, BUT WANT TO?

Only Mostly Devastated

SO MANY!! But one that I already own is Only Mostly Devastated. I mean I only had too read Simon vs. The Homo Sapiens Agenda meets Clueless in this boy meets boy spin on Grease to know I had to read this book but of course I keep putting it off.

4. MOST ANTICIPATED RELEASE OF THE SECOND HALF OF 2020?

Again there are so many but these are the three that I have actually preordered already.

5. BIGGEST DISAPPOINTMENT?

Slated

I didn’t go into this book with super high expectations but I was expecting to like it. Unfortunately it ended up being something I wasn’t expecting at all and it ended up not working for me.

6. BIGGEST SURPRISE?

I picked both of these because it was my first time ever reading a historical romance as well as my first time reading an alien romance and I ended up really enjoying both of them so much more than I was expecting to. I literally went into both of these being very skeptical.

7. FAVORITE NEW AUTHOR (DEBUT OR NEW TO YOU)?

So all of the new authors I have read this year so far I’ve only read one of their books so I can’t really say if they are new favorites or not. I have however read 2 Tessa Dare books and loved them both. I am still really new to historical romances but I definitely want to read her other books after reading these two.

8. NEWEST FICTIONAL CRUSH?

Red, White & Royal Blue

I’m trying not to repeat books but that’s not working out so great. I haven’t really had a new fictional crush yet this year although going through all of the books I’ve read this year I really loved Alex.

9. NEWEST FAVORITE CHARACTERS?

I started this series this year and I am loving it. I absolutely love Eve and Roarke and following along as their relationship grows.

10. BOOK THAT MADE YOU CRY?

The Hate U Give

It has been a long time since a book has made me full on cry but I do get teary eyed sometimes. The Hate U Give by Angie Thomas had me tearing up several times while reading it.

11. BOOK THAT MADE YOU HAPPY?

Fix Her Up

When I think of a happy book I think of something that is funny and the only book I remember laughing a few times while reading was Fix Her Up.

12. MOST BEAUTIFUL BOOK YOU BOUGHT/RECEIVED THIS YEAR?

The Shadows Between Us

There were several that I have bought/received that I love the covers of but I decided to pick this one. In person this cover is amazing. I won this in a giveaway earlier this year.

13. WHAT BOOKS DO YOU NEED TO READ BY THE END OF THE YEAR?

There are to many to list. I still need to read most of the books from my 20 in 2020 challenge as well as most of the book from my husband picks 10 challenge among so many more.

  1. Red, White, and Royal Blue was such a great read, I read it so quickly! Also, I am looking forward to Midnight Sun as well. I have it preordered so I hoping to reading it sooner rather than later. I hope the rest of your reading year is full of great books Misty!

      1. Yeah as soon as I saw that it was a thing I just had to have it. I’ve gotten 2 other special edition boxes from them before and I’ve loved most of what was in the boxes so I’m looking forward to see what’s in this one.

    1. I’m only in the beginning of the series so I can only imagine how things are just going to get better and better with each book at least that’s what I am expecting. Me to!! Thanks to the ladies at under the covers book blog on YouTube for planning this readalong this year. I never would have started the series without them. Yeah it was a cute cover. That’s initially what drew me to the book.

      1. I follow UTC on Instagram and Francesca is promoting them there as well. Love seeing so many readers discovering this series. And BRAVO for not being too intimidated by the sheer number of books 😀 and YES the books definitely get better over time. The cast becomes like a family, and it’s just incredibly to learn more and more personal details about them. Enjoy them all 💕

      2. Yeah they are hosting the readalong with another instagrammer. It was a little intimidating at first. I wasn’t sure if I wanted to start such a long series but I’m glad I decided to go for it.

      3. I can imagine how a series with 50 books must look like to someone just starting out. I think I started the series when there were only 20 or so books available, and have been reading two books each year for the last 10+ years. It’s doable.

      4. It’s not a race, and you’ll catch up eventually. If you read two books a month you’ll be there in two years 😀 I remember that I binged her books in a month or two. I was really on a go, and read one after another – totally hooked on Roarke and Eve. But at that time there wasn’t anything like GR or a tbr – I just read what I found at the bookstore, and when I found the In Death series, that’s pretty much all I read until I ran out of books. 😀
