Julie And The Phantoms Bookish Tag

Hello bookworms!!

So today’s post is kind of a two in one post and it’s not completely about books. It’s also going to be a little bit of a long one so you might want to grab a snack!! I normally don’t dedicate a whole post to a TV show but I have become obsessed with this series and when I saw there was a tag I knew I wanted to do it and share my thoughts on the show. So that’s what I’m going to be doing today. I’m going to be doing the tag at the end but first lets talk about the show. I hope you enjoy!!

I started this show not really expecting much I was just in the mood to watch something new and decided on Julie and the Phantoms. So far there’s only 1 season with 9 episodes that are about 40 minutes each. Since mid November when I first watched this show I have watched it 6 times already. I laughed throughout and also found myself in tears a few times which was unexpected and no matter how many times I watch it I have the same reactions every time. The acting is amazing, there is crazy chemistry between the characters and the songs are amazing. There are 15 songs on the soundtrack and they are all amazing. There are only 2 songs that I don’t listen to very much but it’s not because they are bad songs it’s just because I didn’t care for that particular side story.

I am literally listening to this soundtrack all day everyday and if I’m not listening to it I am singing the songs in my head. I thought I would share my top three songs with y’all in this post. Like I said though they are all amazing!!

I just realized that my top three songs are by 2 of the main leads. That wasn’t done intentionally though. I can’t even tell you which one would be my favorite because I just love them all but being the romance lover that I am I think I would say Perfect Harmony is my favorite. Ok I will stop gushing about this show now and get onto the tag portion of this post. I wasn’t tagged to do this but Meeghan said in her post to consider ourselves tagged if we’ve watched the show so that’s what I am doing. I wanted to include GIFs but I couldn’t figure out how to add them into my post unfortunately.

NOW OR NEVER
a book at the top of your TBR

I have been wanting to read this book since it was released. I luckily was given this book and the second book back in December so I now own them and have no excuse not to read them. 

WAKE UP
a book that you were hesitant to read

I don’t really think I’ve ever really been hesitant to read a book. Yes there are books that I pick up not expecting to enjoy as much and then I end up really enjoying them and that was the case for this book. 

THIS BAND IS BACK
a sequel that you waited a long time for

The first book in this series was released in 2017 and this sequel to it wasn’t released until 2020 so yeah I say 3 years is a long time. 

BRIGHT
a book that took you by surprise

This is a short sci-fi novella. Going into it  I wasn’t expecting to love it as much for a couple of reasons. First being it’s sci-fi and that’s just not my go to genre and second being that short stories/novellas don’t really grip me the way a full length novel can because they are so short however that wasn’t the case with this novella. It hooked me immediately and left me wanting more. 

WOW
an action-packed book

I think this entire trilogy is pretty action packed. I know in the previous question I said sci-fi isn’t my genre and it’s really not but I have read a few sci-fi books that I have ended up really loving.

FLYING SOLO
a book with incredible friendships

I was trying to think of a book that had friendships included and the only one I could think of was Six of Crows. Specifically the friendship between Nina and Inej. 

I GOT THE MUSIC
a book that got you out of a slump

Back in August/September 2020 I was in a reading slump that lasted over a month. When Nicholas Sparks’ book was released in September I decided to pick it up in the hopes that it would help me out of my slump because he is my favorite author. While this wasn’t my favorite book by him it definitely did what I wanted it to. 

THE OTHER SIDE OF HOLLYWOOD
a book with a great ensemble of characters

I think this entire series has a great ensemble of characters. Cinder in the first book and each book adds new characters to the previous characters and I’ve loved all of the ones I’ve read so far. I would have picked Six of Crows but I didn’t want to use a book again. 

ALL EYES ON ME
the prettiest book in your collection

Do you know how hard it is to pick one book for this question? I like different covers for different reasons. So I just went with the first one I saw which was The Cruel Prince.

FINALLY FREE
a series you wish would never end

Honestly I think all series need to come to an end at some point but if I had to choose one series that I think I would never get tired of it would be The Stalking Jack the Ripper series by Kerri Maniscalco. 

PERFECT HARMONY
your fave OTP

I know I said I didn’t want to use the same book twice but I have to because Audrey Rose and Thomas are hands down my favorite OTP. 

EDGE OF GREAT
a book that is (almost) perfect

If it wasn’t for the heavy politics in this book especially in the last half this book would have been a perfect 5 star read for me. 

UNSAID EMILY
a book that makes you cry

I remember crying my eyes out when I read this book and I am fairly certain that if I ever reread it I will cry again. 

YOU GOT NOTHING TO LOSE
a villain you love to hate

I don’t think I have an answer for this because I have never been a fan of villains. I ended up really liking Wrath in Kingdom of the Wicked which was a shock to me because like I said I don’t like villains. I always love the heroes.

STAND TALL
a book that gave you feelings

I actually have 2 books for this question. November 9 and Simon vs. The Homo Sapiens Agenda gave me all sorts of feelings that I have only ever felt while reading them and Red, White & Royal Blue could be included here too. I can’t explain how these books made me feel I just know it’s very rare that I feel this way while reading books.
