This Week In Books

My Week In Books 4/19 – 4/25

Hello bookworms!!

Last Monday we found out that my mother in law has breast cancer. She has a surgery scheduled for later this week and then after that she has to do chemo we think every day for a while but we aren’t really sure. Most likely I will be be driving her back and forth to her treatments everyday. Please send prayers or just positive vibes and thoughts her way!! As for my reading this past week. Well I was slacking a little. I did finish 1 book and made some progress in others but that’s no where near as much as I normally read but oh well it is what it is. Lets get to the books shall we.

~ Recently Finished ~

The Tommyknockers

The only book I managed to finish this week was The Tommyknockers by Stephen King. This ended up just being an ok read for me which is disappointing because I was really enjoying it at first. King is a great writer when it comes to the build up of a story but his endings could really use some work. The ending for this one was very lackluster to me.

~ Currently Reading ~

I’m still working my way through The Belles by Dhonielle Clayton which I am buddy reading with Erin. I’m currently 355 pages into this one and I plan to finish it before the end of the month because I only have 10 chapters left. I am 83 pages into Jukebox Hero by Jason Stuart which I am reading for a blog tour I am taking part in on the 30th. Lastly I am 202 pages into All the Stars and Teeth by Adalyn Grace. I will for sure be finishing all 3 of these before the end of the month. At least I hope I will.

~ Reading Next ~

These are the last 2 books remaining on my April TBR. Realistically I am not going to finish the 3 books I am currently reading plus these 2 in 5 days. I will be at least starting Voyeur this month but I am fine with it carrying over into May because the live discussion isn’t until May anyways so I am good. If I don’t get to My Fake Rake I will just put it back on my shelf until it is picked again.

What have you recently finished reading? What do you plan to read next? What are you currently reading? Have you read any of the books I mentioned?

  1. I am sorry to hear about your mother-in-law… I will pray for a successful surgery and her swift recovery! You are going to busy as well, but please take care of yourself, Misty!
As for my current read, I am reading The Other Prince by Alice Dolman which I remember you added to your TBR on Goodreads! I am enjoying it so far 🙂

  2. I am so sorry to hear about your MIL, Misty. I will definitely add her to my prayers as well as her surgeon and doctors to find the best treatment for her. You will also need prayers for strength. Being a caregiver, even if it just to take her to her appointments, will have its toll on you as well. Make sure you take some time for yourself. I am listening to The Last Train to Key West right now and reading Her Child to Protect by Delores Fossen for a blog tour.

    1. Thank you so much Carla I really appreciate that. Luckily there are several people who are able to help drive her back and forth when needed so that will be a huge help. I feel like I have heard of the The Last Train to Key West but I’m not sure I haven’t heard of the other one though. I hope you’re enjoying them both.

  3. So sorry to hear about your mother-in-law. I’ll definitely be praying for her and y’all. I know firsthand just how hard it is just being a caregiver. On a side note ~ I have gotten in a lot of reading at the Cancer Center. It has definitely helped pass the time and get my mind off things.

    1. Thank you so much Ali!! Yeah I remembered you just having to go through this. I will definitely bring a book with me when I go but I have a hard to concentrating when there’s a lot of noise so I don’t know how much reading I will be able to do but I will definitely try.

      1. With covid restrictions things are often quieter than normal. But, I do take earbuds and listen to audiobooks when things are noisy around me and I need a break from what’s going on around me. But, also sometimes it’s good listening to other patients. They often have some of the most uplifting stories.
