Sunshine Blogger Award

Sunshine Blogger Award

Hello bookworms!!

I was nominated for the 28th time by Ali from Ali’s Books for the Sunshine Blogger Award. She just tagged me in her post yesterday so I am surprised I am getting mine posted so soon after being tagged. I think I just really loved the questions she asked and they were easy to answer. I know I said this last time but I still can’t believe I still get nominated for this award. Thank you so much for the nomination Ali. If you aren’t following her blog already please head over and give her a follow. She is like me and reads a variety of books especially romance.

Ali’s Questions:

1.) What has been your favorite book(s) this year?

So far this year I have read 58 books and of those I have given 12 of them 5 star ratings and because of that it’s hard to just pick 1 favorite so I will pick 3 which was still pretty hard to do. It was so hard to pick these 3 because I kept going but I loved this one to.

What is your most anticipated release for the latter half of this year?

I don’t really keep up with new releases. That being said though I do keep up with the releases for 2 authors that I love. Nicholas Sparks is my all time favorite author and I get every book he releases. Kerri Maniscalco has become a favorite author as well and I get all of her books. Both of these books I have preordered.

Are there certain tropes you steer away from while reading?

No not really. I pretty much love all tropes even though admittedly some are better than others. The only thing I really try to steer clear of is cheating but I wouldn’t call that a trope.

Name a topic/subject/thing you wish you saw more of in books.

For me I would love more wheelchair rep and what would make it even better is if they were in the wheelchair for similar reasons as me. I am a double amputee and I use a wheelchair all of the time except when I am at home.

Name one book you think everyone should read.

There are so many books that I love that I wish everyone would read but I am going to go with one of my favorites again because it was an amazing book.

The Kite Runner

Do you like a strict reading schedule, or are you a total mood reader? Or somewhere in between?

I think I will say somewhere in between because sometimes I stick strictly to my TBR and sometimes I need to do a bit of mood reading. I will say that I lean mostly toward the TBR side of things though.

Do you have one author that over the years has never disappointed you – you’ve loved all of their books?

I would normally say Nicholas Sparks for questions like this but I have given several of his books 3 stars and while for me that’s not a bad rating at all it just means I thought it was ok and just liked it not loved it. The only other authors I can think of are Kerri Maniscalco and James J. Cudney. I have given every book that I have read by both of these authors a 4 or 5 star rating

Do you tend to stick to one genre or do you prefer reading ALL the books?

I prefer reading ALL of the books but I will say I love me some romance. It doesn’t have to be a full blown romance novel either although I love those too.

What is your favorite book-to-movie adaptation?

This is a hard question because I can separate the two forms and love them individually for what they were so most of the time even if the adaptation didn’t really stick to the book I will still end up enjoying it. I am totally blanking on all of the adaptations I have watched but some that come to mind that I enjoyed are The Hunger Games movies, the Twilight movies and Love, Simon but there are so many more.

What book/series would you like to see as a movie/series?

I am going to have to agree with Ali on this one and go with The Infernal Devices trilogy. I loved this trilogy back when I first read them and I just started rereading the first book and I am still loving it. I would absolutely love to see this come alive on the big screen.

How do you like to get your books? Publishers, Netgalley, buy, borrow, book boxes, etc.?

Honestly I don’t care how I get my books so long as I am getting them. I am pretty sure I have gotten books in all the ways you have mentioned Ali. Right now I have to cut back on spending so free is better but I love owning books especially the ones I love.

This was so fun to do. I love when people ask me questions that I can easily answer. Thank you so much for the nomination Ali. I’m not going to be tagging anyone because I am lazy but just know if you are reading this then you deserve this nomination. If you want to answer Ali’s questions then please just link back to a specific post of mine as well as Ali’s so we can see your answers.

  1. The Kite Runner has been sitting unread on my shelf for way too long. Maybe this will be the year??? And yes, I read ALL the books, but some romance just always makes it better! LOL! I loved all your answers! And seeing your wheelchair rep comment reminded me of a past conversation we had – towards the middle of last year I think about amputee reps in books. Then I was slammed with the craziness of handling everything with my father-in-law. Well, I started working on an amputee TBR list a couple months ago and hope to be able to start with some TBR posts and then transitioning into some recommendations (hopefully – after I can get to reading some). Just wanted to let you know I never forgot about our conversation and my desire to help put a little focus on the subject.

    1. It sat on my shelf unread for a long time too. I’m glad I finally read it. Now I need to read A Thousand Splendid Suns which had been on my shelf unread for probably just as long if not longer. I agree just having some romance in a book whether it’s a full on romance novel or a fantasy with a romance just makes it better for me. Thank you!! I appreciate that. I need to do my own research and see what I can find. Research just isn’t my strong suit lol.

      1. I have A Thousand Splendid Suns on my shelf, too. LOL! Well, I definitely did some research, and I’m thinking about doing some TBR lists but doing separate posts to break the lists down by genre because there are a lot out there. Don’t know if they’re any good, but it’s a starting spot.
