If you missed my #Tropeathon Announcement Post then you don’t know that Michelle and I have decided it was time to revive our readathon. You can check out the announcement post for all of the information you will need about the readathon. Today’s post is a recommendations post. We have 24 tropes plus 3 more bonus tropes all of which I think are pretty self explanatory but I will give a brief description of each trope as well as some books that I have read that will fit the tropes. For the most part I have rated all of the books I am recommending 3 stars or more but there are a few that I gave a lower rating to but I included them because I didn’t have anything else. Also don’t worry if I don’t have any recommendations for a trope because Michelle will be sharing her recommendations as well. You can see her part 1 post here. We will also have some going up on Twitter if you want to follow us there. Because there are so many tropes I have decided to split this into 2 posts that way the posts don’t end up being way to long. Anyways lets get into my recommendations shall we.
This is our bingo board for this round.
Second Chance – This could be a second chance romance or if you’re not into romance it can literally be a second chance at anything.
Supernatural Being – For this it could literally be anything that’s not human. (i.e. vampires, werewolves, witches etc.)
Coming Of Age – The definition on google sums this up perfectly. It says it’s a catch all term for a novel about growing up.
Fated Mates – This is where the characters are destined to be together. It can sometimes come across as insta love and one mate will usually reject the other at first.
Time Travel – This is really self explanatory. It’s a book that deals with characters traveling through time into the past or the future.
Friends To Lovers – This is another pretty self explanatory one. The Characters usually start out as best friends and eventually realize they have romantic feelings for each other.
One Night Stand – Again self explanatory. Usually the characters plan to only hook up for one night but one always ends up wanting more or they run into each other in the future.
Epic Quest – This is where the characters go on an epic journey for one reason or another. I unfortunately don’t have any recommendations for this one.
Forced Proximity – This is where the characters are forced to be near each other and in doing so eventually come to realize they actually like each other.
Bully – This is where one of the characters bully’s the other. This can work for romance but there are also books that aren’t romance like the first book I recommended.
Who Did It? – This is where the main character embarks on a quest to find clues about an event (could be a kidnapping, disappearance, weird things etc.) in order to resolve it or reveal the truth about what’s happened.
Arranged Marriage – An arranged marriage is a marriage that the families have agreed to and the bride and groom don’t really have much of a say in the matter.
That’s all I am recommending in this post. If you need me to explain any of the tropes a little better all you have to do is ask. I know I am not the best at describing things so if any of them are confusing I will try to clear it up for you. Keep an eye out for the second half of this post coming in a couple days.
