The Fantasy Tropes Book Tag

Hello bookworms!!

I was tagged by Jasmine from My Quiet Little Corner back in November of 2020 to do the Fantasy Tropes Book Tag and here I am almost a year later finally doing it. I am so sorry it took me so long to do this tag Jasmine. If you aren’t already following Jasmine’s blog you should definitely go and do that. Let’s get to the questions shall we.

  • Answer the questions
  • Tag as many people as you like
  • Have fun!!

The Questions:

The lost princess – A book/series you lost interest in half way through.

The Gunslinger

UGH this series!! I lost interest in this series early on but I continued to read it only because I was reading it with a group of people on Instagram. I eventually reached a point where I was just reading them so I could say I read them. While some of the books were enjoyable I do not recommend this series as a whole.

The night in shining armour – A hyped book/series that you were swept up by.

Sci-Fi isn’t a genre I typically read so I went into this not expecting much but I ended up absolutely loving it and binge read all of the books.

The wise old wizard – An author that amazes you with his/her writing.

Stalking Jack the Ripper

Honestly I could list multiple authors for this question but I decided to go with Kerri Maniscalco. As y’all know I love romance and the romance in these books hooked me from the very beginning but there is so much more to these books than the romance and I was totally here for all of it.

The maiden in distress – An undervalued character you wished had a bigger storyline.

I am literally drawing a blank here. I am sure there are some characters that I wish had more page time but at this moment I can’t think of any. If I remember one I will update this post.

The magical sword – A magical item/ability you wish authors would use less.

I honestly don’t have an answer for this one. Unless I read similar books back to back I am probably not going to remember something being used in multiple books so I don’t really have anything like that that bothers me.

The mindless villain – A phrase you cannot help but role your eyes at.

I never used to have a phrase that bothered me but then people started mentioning this one phrase that annoyed them and over the years it has started to annoy me as well and that is the they released a breath they didn’t realize they were holding phrase. I’m sorry but there’s no way you don’t know you’re holding your breath.

The untamed dragon – A magical creature you wish you could have as a pet.

Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban

I haven’t read very many books where magical creatures are present and literally the only one that’s coming to mind is a Hippogriff from the Harry Potter series. I’m not sure I spelled that right though.

The chosen one – A book/series you will always root for.

The Passage

This is another one where I could list so many books but I decided to go with The Passage trilogy by Justin Cronin. This is one I’ve read recently. I’m actually still reading the 3rd book and I have absolutely loved every single book. I’ve had a couple little issues with it but it hasn’t affected my enjoyment of the books and now I want everyone to read them.

Two tags in one week. I need to get through some tags that I’ve had drafted for a while so I’m not mad about it. Again I am to lazy to tag anyone but if this sounds like a tag you would like to do then consider yourself tagged just please link back to a post of mine because I would love to see your answers.
