Quarterly Goals Check In

Hello bookworms!!

It is time for another quarterly update. I’m a little bit late with the 3rd quarterly update but it’s better late than never right. In todays post I will be sharing how I am doing with my goals through September and I will share an update for my challenges in another post that will be coming soon.

1.) Complete all of my reading challenges

I am participating in 10 challenges this year and have completed 3 so far. I have made progress in pretty much all of the other challenges but at this point I don’t see myself completing everything but I am ok with that so long as I have made some progress in all of them I am happy.

2.) Cut back on Dr Pepper /lose weight

This is an ongoing process. I feel like I have cut back a lot on drinking Dr Pepper. I do still sometimes have one or now they have Dr Pepper Zero so I will get that sometimes as well but for the most part I drink Gatorade and water. As for losing weight. In my last update I mentioned that I was going to be seeing the doctor and I did and at that visit I had lost another 5 pounds which is great however I went to the doctor again yesterday and I have gained that 5 pounds back so that’s not good. I still haven’t started exercising mostly because I am lazy but also because I have a tear in my rotator cuff and I don’t want to irritate it.

3.) Put back $5 for every book I read

I was doing so well with this at the beginning of the year. I had put money back and spent it on things I had been wanting but I haven’t been able to put money back in a while because money has been tight.

4.) Cut back on buying physical books

In my last update I had only bought 7 books and I was waiting on some preorders to come in. Now I am up to 14 books purchased and I am still waiting on 1 preorder. I have won some books or gotten some as gifts or for reviews but those don’t count. I was only wanting to cut back on me buying books and I would say I have totally done that. I’ve also purchased a few ebooks this year but again those don’t count.

5.) Read more from my owned books

As of the end of 2020 I had 162 unread books on my shelf. As of right now I have 151 which includes the 14 that I bought this year. Without those books added it would be 137. I have to say I have been pretty successful at this one. I still would like to get it lower but so far so good.

6.) Read everyday

My goal is to read a majority of the days in 2021. I am doing really well with this one as well. So far this year I have read everyday except for 37. I say reading 273 days is pretty good.

7.) Continue with/complete 5 series

At the end of 2020 I had 65 ongoing series. I have of course added onto that number this year so I am now up to 89 ongoing series. I am too lazy right now to go through all of the books I’ve read at this point but I know this is already a success. I have completed several series some of which I started and completed this year and some of which I just continued and finished. I have also continued on in other series. I will be more thorough in my final update for this I promise.

8.) Cut back on ARCs/review copies

I am still sticking to just doing mostly promo posts for blog tours but sometimes I struggle to turn down a book that’s up for review so while I have cut way back I am still getting ARCs every now and then.

9.) Build up savings

I was doing good with this one for the first half of the year but again money started getting tight so I haven’t been able to put any money back in a while.

Overall I think I am doing pretty good with my goals for this year. Most of them aren’t a 100% success but honestly I wasn’t expecting them to be so I am happy with the progress I have been able to make so far this year. Keep an eye out for my challenge update coming soon.
