This Week In Books

My Week In Books 1/17 – 1/23

Hello bookworms!!

I am so glad to finally be reading. The start of the year was slow going but things have finally started picking up and I am loving it. I don’t have any life updates for y’all this week so let’s just jump straight into the books shall we.

~ Recently Finished ~

The first book I finished this week was the Lost in Romance Book Club pick for January. I hadn’t heard of Indigo Ridge by Devney Perry until Michelle suggested it as our book choice. I ended up enjoying this one even though I did have some minor issues with it. The next book I finished was The Cove by L.J. Ross. This book was one of the books recommended to me for the 12 Challenge and I am so glad it was because I probably never would have picked this up on my own and I ended up really enjoying this one as well. I then read Nothing but Blackened Teeth by Cassandra Khaw. I have to be honest when this started making the rounds last year, I had no interest whatsoever in reading it. The cover was really a turn off for me. Fast forward to December when I read Jonny’s review of it where he passionately dislikes it it made me really want to read the book. I ended up buddy reading this with Luna. I have to say everything that Jonny said about this book in his review is basically true, but I ended up really enjoying it which came as a complete surprise to me.

~ Currently Reading ~

I didn’t pick up Again, but Better anymore this week so I’m still only 80 pages into it, but I plan to get back into it this week and maybe even finish it. This is another buddy read I am doing with Erin. I was finally able to start reading How to Love Your Neighbor by Sophie Sullivan. If you follow me on Twitter (shameless self-plug) then you know I wasn’t able to read this book on the NetGalley Shelf and for some reason books haven’t been sending to my Kindle. Not just this book I recently tried sending another one and it didn’t send. I’ve been emailing back and forth with NetGalley and so far, that issue hasn’t been fixed. I ended up having to download the PocketBook App to read this book which is annoying because I really didn’t want to have to add yet another app to my phone but if I wanted to read the book that seemed to be the quick fix for now and as you can see it worked. I’m currently 214 pages into this one and I’m really enjoying it. I don’t have too much of this one left so I may be finishing it sometime today.

~ Reading Next ~

Second Chance

There are technically 3 books left on my January TBR that I haven’t read yet but I’m still waiting on Rage from the library so that will most likely be read in February, and The Love Hypothesis is currently unavailable on Scribd which is annoying because when I created my TBR it was available. The only book left is Second Chance by Natasha Preston. This book was on my January 2019 Book Haul Revisited Post. I decided to make a little challenge for myself out of those posts and choose one book each month to read. I still have a week left so maybe I can fit it in. I don’t have any plans to read anything else but who knows I might decide to randomly pick up something.

What have you recently finished reading? What are you currently reading? What do you plan to read next? Have you read any of the books I mentioned?

  1. Nothing But Blackened Teeth wasn’t even on my radar, but I’m so curious about it now. That cover is super creepy, though, so I can see how you were put off by it so long. Hope you enjoy your current and upcoming reads and good luck getting your hands on the books you’re wanting. I LOVED The Love Hypothesis!!
