Down The TBR Hole #1

Hello bookworms!!

I’ve seen this meme for years and I have always thought about participating but ultimately decided not to because I know how indecisive I am, and I felt like I would end up keeping all of the books. I have gone through my kindle books before and ended up doing really well at getting rid of some. My want to read shelf on Goodreads is currently at 1,746 books so I thought it was time for me to participate in this meme before it hits 2,000 books. I plan on doing this weekly.

Down The TBR Hole is a meme created by lost in a story that revolves around cleansing your TBR of all those books you’re never going to read and sort through it all to know what’s actually on there.

Most of you probably know this feeling, your Goodreads TBR pile keeps growing and growing and it seems like there is no light at the end of the tunnel. You keep adding, but you add more than you actually read. And then when youre scrolling through your list, you realize that you have no idea what half the books are about and why you added them. Well, thats going to change!

It works like this:

  • Go to your Goodreads to-read shelf.
  • Order on ascending date added.
  • Take the first 5 (or 10 (or even more!) if youre feeling adventurous) books. Of course, if you do this weekly, you start where you left off the last time.
  • Read the synopses of the books
  • Decide: keep it or should it go

I have decided that I am only going to include images of the books I am keeping so I don’t use up too much of my photo storage. Also, if I haven’t started a series, I am only going to be keeping the first book in the series. There’s a possibility they will be added back if I enjoyed the first book enough to want to carry on. And lastly, I can already tell you that if I own the book, I will not be taking it off my want to read shelf whether it’s the first book in a series or the last.

Keeping:

At First Sight

At First Sight by Nicholas Sparks

I mean is there any doubt that I am keeping a book by my favorite author. First, I own this book and second it’s my favorite author. I could never get rid of a book by my favorite author. There are only a handful of books by this author that I haven’t read yet.

The Giver

The Giver by Lois Lowry

I debated on whether or not I still wanted to read this book, but the synopsis made it sound intriguing and I read some reviews of people I trust and in the end, I decided I still wanted to give it a go.

Pretty Little Liars

Pretty Little Liars by Sara Shepard

I used to be obsessed with this show. I still need to finish it although I do already know how it ends. Because I’ve seen the show and I know how it ends I wasn’t sure it would be worth reading anymore but I read a review that said the book is very different to the tv show and is worth reading still so I am going to read it plus I own this book.

True Believer

True Believer by Nicholas Sparks

Another book by my favorite author and another one that I already own therefore I am keeping this one as well.

Removing:

The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo by Steig Larsson

The Time Traveler’s Wife by Audrey Niffenegger

Flawless by Sara Shepard

Perfect by Sara Shepard

Unbelievable by Sara Shepard

Wicked by Sara Shepard

Killer by Sara Shepard

Wanted by Sara Shepard

Twisted by Sara Shepard

Ruthless by Sara Shepard

Stunning by Sara Shepard

Burned by Sara Shepard

Crushed by Sara Shepard

Deadly by Sara Shepard

Toxic by Sara Shepard

Vicious by Sara Shepard

Stats:

  • Kept – 4
  • Removed – 16
  • Starting Amount – 1,746
  • New Amount – 1,730

This week was easy because I had an entire series on my shelf that I haven’t even started yet and I had several books that I already own. Once I get to the books I don’t actually own is when things are going to get hard for me because I want to read everything. Have you read any of these books? Did I get rid of any book that you think I should still read?

    1. I probably should have started doing it a long time ago but I kept putting it off. I think it will be fun to go through all of the books I’ve added because I really don’t remember all of the books I’ve added over the years.

  1. I started reading the PLL books a few years ago and then stopped when I read one I really didn’t like. Every month this year I’ve planned on continuing the series so I can tell if still want them on my shelves or not but I keep failing. Maybe I should pack them away if I don’t get to at least one this month!
