Hello bookworms!!
Down The TBR Hole is a meme created by lost in a story that revolves around cleansing your TBR of all those books you’re never going to read and sort through it all to know what’s actually on there.
Most of you probably know this feeling, your Goodreads TBR pile keeps growing and growing and it seems like there is no light at the end of the tunnel. You keep adding, but you add more than you actually read. And then when you’re scrolling through your list, you realize that you have no idea what half the books are about and why you added them. Well, that’s going to change!
It works like this:
- Go to your Goodreads to-read shelf.
- Order on ascending date added.
- Take the first 5 (or 10 (or even more!) if you’re feeling adventurous) books. Of course, if you do this weekly, you start where you left off the last time.
- Read the synopses of the books
- Decide: keep it or should it go
I have decided that I am only going to include images of the books I am keeping so I don’t use up too much of my photo storage. Also, if I haven’t started a series, I am only going to be keeping the first book in the series. There’s a possibility they will be added back if I enjoyed the first book enough to want to carry on. And lastly, I can already tell you that if I own the book, I will not be taking it off my want to read shelf whether it’s the first book in a series or the last.
Keeping:
Another book by this author showed up in a previous Down the TBR Hole post and there will be more popping up throughout this series. I don’t need to read the synopsis for any of her books because I want to eventually read everything she has written so I will be keeping this one.
I own this book so I will be keeping it on my TBR, but I have read a couple books by this author and enjoyed them and after reading the synopsis of this one I think it could be something I would enjoy.

Stats:
- Kept – 2
- Removed – 8
- Starting Amount – 1,746
- Previous Amount – 1,655
- New Amount – 1,647
That’s 8 more removed from my TBR. I have to say I am really happy with the progress I am making with this challenge. I thought for sure I was going to have a hard time getting rid of books but so far it has been pretty easy. Now if I could just stop adding books to my TBR I will be winning. I have to point out that the new amount total does not include the books I have added to my TBR since starting this little challenge. Once I get to the end I will let y’all know how many books I added while doing this. Did I get rid of a book that you think I should keep? Let me know in the comments why you think I should add it back because I can definitely be persuaded to change my mind.
Targeting series’ that you know you won’t read or aren’t interested in seems like a great strategy for this. If you haven’t read the first book, you’re probably not reading the second and third, right? ☺️ Any idea how many books on average you add per week to your TBR?

If I decide to take the first book off there’s definitely no reason to keep the rest of the books in the series. Also I never realized how many series I have added to my TBR. Honestly I don’t really know. Sometimes I go some weeks without adding any books and then some weeks I add several.

I really liked Confess! I haven’t read many Colleen Hoover books, but that one made a big impression on me and made me want to read more of hers.

At this point I think I’ve read 5 of her books and November 9 is my favorite so far but I’ve enjoyed all that I have read.
