This Week In Books

My Week In Books 6/6 – 6/12

Hello bookworms!!

Once again not a whole lot has been going on over here this week. I’ve been going to the chiropractor 1-2 times a week for a while now for the pain I was having in my back and neck and also for the pain in my arms and hands. The neck and back pain are gone but my arms and hands are still bothering me. The chiropractor told me he’s starting to believe that the arm and hand pain isn’t coming from the neck so he’s going to refer me to a hand specialist. Hopefully I will get things figured out soon. Beyond that I have just been reading a lot this week. Here is what my reading has looked like this past week.

~ Recently Finished ~

I finished 4 books this week. The first book I finished was Subject A36 by Teri Polen. This was a reread for me. I needed to refresh my memory before jumping into The Insurgent by Teri Polen. I absolutely loved both of these books. I then read Stranger Planet by Nathan W. Pyle. These books are just so cute, and they are quick. They aren’t mind blowing by any means but I am enjoying them. The last book I read was The BEK Curse by Jonathan Pongratz. I beta read this book for the author back in January so this was another reread. I wanted to read the final product. It’s a short read and I liked it.

~ Currently Reading ~

I have 4 books on the go at the moment. The first one is Lady Midnight by Cassandra Clare. I am buddy reading this with Erin. We are only reading 4 chapters a week so this one will be here for a little bit. I’m currently 307 pages into this one which is almost halfway through the book. So far, it’s mostly been recapping things that happened in previous books, but things have finally started happening so hopefully it will pick up from here on out. I decided to start The Watchers by John Reid a little early and it’s a good thing I did. I’m on the blog tour for this book on June 28th. I’m 98 pages into this one and I’m kind of struggling with it. There has been a lot of talk about 1 character being overweight at one point and then losing weight and how she looks great now. It’s literally constantly mentioned in some way, and it has been getting on my nerves from the very first page. And on top of that I’m kind of bored but at the same time I want to know what’s going to happen. I also decided to start Blaze by Richard Bachman (Stephen King) early as well. I was trying to get through as many books as I could before #Tropeathon started. Anyways Blaze is this month’s #KeeperofKing read. I’m 87 pages into it and I’m liking it so far. Last but not least I started Twisted Love by Ana Huang. This was May’s pick for the Lost in Romance Book Club, and I ended up not getting around to reading it so I am glad that it fits one of the tropes for #Tropeathon so I can finally read it. I started this yesterday because it was the start of #Tropeathon. I am reading this book for the brother’s best friend trope. I’m only 59 pages into it so far but I’m enjoying it.

~ Reading Next ~

If you saw my TBR post, then you know that I have a lot of reading plans for the next few months, and they all started this month. I have a lot of books I still need to read this month, so I just chose the 4 I think I will get to first. The Wall of Winnipeg and Me by Mariana Zapata is this month’s pick for the Lost in Romance Book Club it also works for several of the tropes for #Tropeathon. I am buddy reading Under the Dome with Nina over on Instagram. We are both part of the #KeeperofKing group and we’ve been catching up on books that we haven’t read yet but everybody else in the group has. We will be reading Under the Dome by Stephen King over the next couple of months and talking about it weekly. Our first discussion is Saturday, so I really need to start this one ASAP. I received Fake It Till You Bake It by Jamie Wesley from NetGalley. This book is publishing on June 21st and I would like to get it read so I can share my review on publication day. Last but not least is another book for #Tropeathon. I will be reading Queen Takes Knights by Joely Sue Burkhart for the Reverse Harem Trope.

What have you recently finished? What are you currently reading? What do you plan to read next? Have you read any of the books I mentioned?

  1. I loved Teri’s books (Subject A36 and The Insurgent). So glad to hear you did too! And I have had Lady Midnight on my virtual book shelf waiting for me for so long. I think I bought it when it first came out. Maybe someday I will finally get to it. Happy reading!

  2. I started and finished Twisted Love yesterday evening/night. It was a 4.5 star read for me. I hope you continue to enjoy it! I loved The Wall of Winnipeg and Me in the end. It can seem long along the way, but the pay off was big for me. I think Zapata has that effect on a lot of readers. I haven’t seen Queen Takes Knight, so I’m curious to see what you think of it.

    1. I have so many books in the go I feel like I’m not making any progress lol. I have a feeling I’m going to end up enjoying Twisted Love just based off of what I’ve read so far. Yeah I lot of people say Zapata is the queen of slow burn. I don’t hate slow burn romances but at the same time they aren’t my favorite because I always just want to character la to get together already lol. I think I’ve seen like 1 person talk about Queen Takes Knights and I’m looking forward to reading it.
