Short bio about Zuky

Zuky

My name is Zuky and I’m 20 years old. I work full time in a tech company as a marketing administrator, but I’d love nothing more than to work for a publishing house! I post lots of different kinds of posts on my blog, from reviews, to discussions, to memes and tags!

You can find her on Goodreads, Twitter, and Instagram as well as her Blog.

Q&A

When did you start your blog and what made you decide to start blogging?

I started my blog in January 2017 and I started it because I have such a huge passion for books! I was originally just using Goodreads to post my reviews, but I thought, to become more “professional” and get publishers to notice my reviews, I should start my very own blog, so that’s what I did!

What is your most recent 5 star read and why did you love it so much?

My most recent 5 star read was a short story called Where Are You Going, Where Have You Been? by Joyce Carol Oates. (My Review) I loved it because it was just so creepy! Totally atmospheric and disturbing. The last book I read that was an actual novel, was The Anatomy of Innocence by Various Authors. (My Review) I really loved this novel because it moved me so much! It’s a really great non-fiction book.

Is there a specific genre that you have no interest in ever reading?

I have no interest in reading paranormal romance novels. It just seems a little strange for me. I much prefer books based around things that could happen in real life and having some sort of love affair with a vampire it’s not at all realistic!

Do you have a favorite/auto buy author? If so, who?

I don’t re-read many authors to be honest. I have a huge appreciation for Stephen King, so I never think twice about buying one of his books. More recently, I’ve discovered M. R. Carey and Robert Bryndza, they’re pretty much auto-buy authors now!

What is your favorite snack to eat while you’re reading?

Ooh, this is a difficult question because I find it almost impossible to eat and read! I’d have to go with just a good old cup of English Breakfast tea! (How English of me lol!)

What book or series could you read over and over again without growing tired of it?

I could probably read American Psycho by Bret Easton Ellis over and over again, It’s so deliciously dark and disgusting, but that’s the kind of book I love! For something a little less psycho, I could definitely read How To Kill a Mockingbird by Harper Lee over and over!

What are you currently reading? Is it any good?

(As of today, Apr 18) I’m reading the White Road by Sarag Lotz which I’m really enjoying! It’s the first book I’ve read about something scary happening during a dangerous hike and I think I’ve picked a good one to start with! I’m also reading The Ridge by John Rector, which has a Stepford Wives feel about it. I’m enjoying it but not as much as other Rector novels.

If you could be best friends with any book character who would it be?

I’d love to be friends with Zoo from The Last One by Alexandra Oliva. I thought she was a really cool, funny and badass character. I bet she’d be a fun friend to have!

Do you carry a book with you everywhere you go?

Physically, no. But I always have my phone on me, which has all my Kindle books downloaded on it! So yes, kind of!

Have you always been a reader? If not when would you say you first became a reader?

I was a reader from really young, I’d get through Roald Dahl books in seconds, but then I got into doing my GCSE’s and we were forced into reading books like Pride & Prejudice and Wuthering Heights and it made me completely lose touch with reading! As soon as I left school, I got back into reading again and haven’t looked back from there since!

Thank you so much to Zuky for coming up with the idea to collaborate with other bloggers and choosing to collaborate with little ole me. Everyone should definitely head on over to her blog and give her a follow. She writes amazing reviews and she has created her on meme among other kinds of posts plus she is one of the nicest people I have had the pleasure of getting to know.
