Simon vs. The Homo Sapiens Agenda

I am going to try really hard to make this review more than just me saying I freaking loved this book. I did by the way, I absolutely loved it. I read it at the beginning of the month and 3 days after I finished it I read it again because I couldn’t focus on anything else because I kept thinking about this book. I am also seriously considering listening to the audiobook of it now that I have subscribed to Scribd and it’s available. If that doesn’t tell you how much I loved it then I don’t know what will.
When I first started reading Simon (that’s what I am going to be calling this book from here on out because the title is way to long to type over and over again) I didn’t understand what all the hype was about for this book. I mean it wasn’t bad but I just wasn’t getting it. At some point in the book, and I couldn’t even begin to tell you what part, I totally understood why it was so hyped. I couldn’t get enough of it and I didn’t want to put it down.
I loved the formatting of Simon. It starts with the regular formatting of a book (prose) and then it switches into the email exchanges between Simon and Blue. It flowed so well between the two and that combined with the story and Albertalli’s writing made for a quick read.
Simon is probably one of my all time favorite characters at this point. He had me smiling throughout the entire book with his quick wit. There were several other characters like Abby, Nick, and Leah who are Simons best friends as well as several other characters and while I didn’t really have many issues with them I found myself not caring much about the side characters. Is that harsh? Yeah probably, but oh well I was living for Blue and Simon. The only real issue (well not issue more like annoyance) I had was that Leah was very annoying and whiny to me.
By the end of the book I was so giddy because I loved Simon and Blue so much and I just wanted more of them. I thought they were so cute and adorable. Ok I am going to shut up now.
I highly recommend this book to everyone. Its such a cute, fun, quick read and everyone should read it.
Oooooh, I wonder how you’d like Leah on the Offbeat if you thought she was whiny in this one!!

No I haven’t watched the movie yet. It didn’t play in my theater so I have to wait for the dvd to come out.

dvd sounds like a great option = couch, popcorn (or oreos? dunno but seems to be a connection with the book) and pajamas \o/ wohoo

For me it would have to be Oreos because I don’t like popcorn lol. Yeah I think I would prefer to be able to sit and watch it in the comforts of my own home. Although I don’t have any issues with seeing it in theaters if my theater actually played it.

Omg, MIsty. I’m still reading this book but I must tell you this – I felt exactly the same way about the hype IN THE BEGINNING, but now… I’m hooked. Totally hooked (I’m over halfway through the book right now). Blue and Jacques… the e-mails… sooooo freakin’ cute. I’m loving it!!

I’m so happy you loved it!!! I absolutely adored this book. Afterwards I went straight to Autoboyography from Christina Lauren and I had another HIT on my hands. 😀

I didn’t hate her or anything and I do want to read Leah on the Offbeat. Like I said though I was so into Blue and Simon I didn’t pay all that much attention to the side characters.

I actually loved Leah! I found her to be an intriguing character and yes there were times she was a bit too sensitive! I can agree with that! lol

Yeah I was so into Simon and blue maybe that’s why I only picked up on the bits where she was being extremely whiny.

You will probably enjoy her more in Leah and the Offbeat!

Great review! When I really like a book I have trouble stating why and my reviews end up being mostly “I freaking loved this book” haha I listened to the Audiobook and wasn’t a huge fan of the recording (I still loved the book) The email parts got a little confusing and I didn’t like the narrator’s voice (it was Michael Crouch on the Audible version). Tho since you read it already you might not have the same issues!

Thank you. I’m glad I’m not the only one who has trouble writing reviews for books I loved lol. My audiobook came from Scribd and mine had the same narrator. Yeah I definitely think already having read the book made it easier. I still loved the story but listening to it wasn’t as great as I had hoped it to be.

Awesome review… I loved this book so much too… sometimes, it’s just too difficult to convey our love in a review, isn’t it….
I thought Leah was whiny too…. and now I’m reading her book…. don’t know how I feel about this one 🙄🙄🙄

I wanted the paperback too… but Book Depository ran out of stock, so I canceled that and listening to the audiobook now…

Thank you so much. I absolutely love Blue and Simon. Every time I read a review of someone who loved it as much as me I get giddy all over again like how I felt when I read the book.
