Hello bookworms!!
If you read this post then you know from October 1st to October 13th I was participating in the Hocus Pocus Readathon. It ended last night so today I am here to share with y’all how I did so lets just jump right in.
What I planned to read:
Team Goal: Save the Day. Requires 50 points.
Strength: It’s up to you to defeat the Sanderson sisters. Give yourself an additional 2 points for each book you read with a witch character.
Weakness: Keep the Sanderson Sisters busy until sunrise. Complete a 24 hour readathon.
You hear the legend of the Sanderson Sisters. Set the mood for Halloween night by reading a spine-tingling book (5 points). Scary Stories To Tell In The Dark
Light the black flame candle. Read a book by flashlight at night (5 points). More Scary Stories To Tell In The Dark
Don’t get caught by the Sanderson Sisters. Study magical foes by reading
a fantasy novel (5 points). The Institute
Thackery Binx is here to guide you all. Read a book with a squad (5
points). The Raven Boys
Winifred has taken to the stage and is casting her spell. Cover your ears so
you don’t hear it! Listen to an audiobook (5 points). I left this open
Work with your team to save the day. Read the group book (10 points). Serpent & Dove
Celebrate your victory by watching Hocus Pocus (15 points).
Here’s what I actually read:
You hear the legend of the Sanderson Sisters. Set the mood for Halloween night by reading a spine-tingling book (5 points).
Light the black flame candle. Read a book by flashlight at night (5 points).
Don’t get caught by the Sanderson Sisters. Study magical foes by reading
a fantasy novel (5 points).
Thackery Binx is here to guide you all. Read a book with a squad (5
points).
I had planned to read The Raven Boys for this prompt but unfortunately I didn’t get around to reading this one.
Winifred has taken to the stage and is casting her spell. Cover your ears so
you don’t hear it! Listen to an audiobook (5 points).
Work with your team to save the day. Read the group book (10 points).
There was 2 group read options and I was originally going to go with Serpent & Dove because at the time I didn’t have this book. I didn’t finish this book so I can’t count it but I was so close. I only had a little over 100 pages left.
Celebrate your victory by watching Hocus Pocus (15 points).
And of course I watched the movie. I ordered the DVD just for this readathon plus I have been wanting to watch it again anyways so now I have the DVD for future rewatches.
As you can see I didn’t stick to my original TBR completely but that’s ok. As for my points I ended with 35 points however I did read 3 books that included witches so as for the Team strength I can add 2 points for each book so I actually ended with 41 points. So I wasn’t able to save the day because I didn’t get 50 points but I am still really happy with what I did manage to read and I can’t wait to give it a go next year. Did any of you guys participate in this readathon? How did you do?
This sounds like it was a lot of fun. Congratulations on getting 41 points and having fun doing it. I need to watch Hocus Pocus again, it has been a long time. I actually have it on VHS and still have a player somewhere.

I enjoyed it. Thank you!! I will probably watch it again before the seasons over. I don’t have a vhs player. I think I have a DVD player somewhere but I just watch dvds using my computer.

Thank you!! I happy with what I did. I’m a little disappointed that I didn’t finish that last book but it’s no big deal. It was so much fun and I really hope they do it again next year.

This looks like such fun! I hope you can get to The Raven Boys (a personal fav). I just won a copy of Serpent and Dove, and I really want to find time to read the new King book. Need more hours in the day!

I’ve owned the book for a while and every time I put it on my TBR I for whatever reason never get around to reading it. I hope I can get to it soon though. I was going to listen to the audiobook for Serpent & Dove on Scribd. I really enjoyed the King book. So many books so little time.
